Description
In 478 BCE the Spartan regent Pausanias was dispatched as commander of the Hellenes, but at Byzantium his arrogance made him unpopular with the Ionians, and Athens began to assume the leadership of the recently liberated Greeks. The Delian League was formed as a way for Athens to reap the rewards of maintaining such an alliance, but was rationalised behind the continuation of war against the Persian Empire. The League was intended to pursue a conflict of liberation in which remnants of Persian power would be returned back to Greek controlled, autonomous territories. The League undertook numerous military campaigns against the Persians in theaters of war as far as Egypt. Athens then began its first transitional stages of converting the Delian League into an Empire when allies who revolted were forced back into the League. Naxos, for example lost its autonomy, and had no choice as to whether to be a member. It had to pay tribute to Athens and participate in any league military activities. In 460 BCE another important development took place, when Megara allied itself with Athens. This is believed to be the incident that caused the beginning of the first Peloponesian war. Athens where quick to accept the alliance, as the perfect positioning of the city of Megara ensured that any Spartan invasion of Attica would be stalled....

Mod Development
The first release will focus on the Peloponnese during the first Peloponnesian war, with later versions then beginning to encompass Greece and Asia Minor as a whole with a much larger timeframe, allowing the mod to focus on the events of the Persian and Peloponnesian wars. The main focus here is to create a strong foundation for continual development. With such a reduced workflow from the start, this can ensure that the team is not overloaded with extensive workflows, delaying development and in turn the first release. This also allows for any re-balancing issues to be address much sooner and with a larger level of practicality apposed to having multiple issues which need tackling all at once.

I love the models. Focusing on the first Peloponnesian War is a great decision. Hopefully the future release will feature the second one as well, which is one of the most interesting conflicts in history. The shields should be about 1 meter in diamater, or at least big enough for them to overlap in a tight formation (which should be somehow implemented if possible) but I'm not sure I can tell how big they are from the pics. Perhaps a bit larger?
