Default Preparing new computer for Rome 2

I wanted to get a new computer after having my current one for a solid five years and I've had a Radeon 5770 during all those years. So if you want a lot of bang for your buck, go with Radeon 5770.

To the question. How are my specs and customizations of my computer. The parts I'm ordering off of newegg and other sites. I checked system requirements and recommendations of several games like Crysis, CoD, Battlefield 3, etc...

Rome 2 I'm overhauling almost everything.

Will all this suffice enough to play on the highest settings on Rome 2? Will enjoy to read the opinions of people that know about computers.

Nobody knows what max settings will be Point.

But I'd want 3gb on my GPU. Your CPU and Ram should be fine. I think a i5 will be sufficient honestly.

Oh, it's the Cure by the way.

Don't bother really. Wait until the next generation of products comes along to buy anything. Plus, Rome 2 is a long way away, so the longer you wait, the more info you will get on what specs will play it at what levels

Lol, you don't need 3 GB on your GPU. It makes very, very little difference (close to none) after you get past the usually 1-2 GB of onboard memory, so getting a card with 3 GB is really pointless.

If you're buying this computer to play a next-gen game like Rome 2, it really is safe to go with the CPU you selected.

It looks like your list is copy-pasted from a site like CyberpowerPC. Do you plan on buying it from them, or buying all the parts separately and building it yourself? If you are buying it from them, I see you have no rushed shipping selected. Just want to make sure you're aware that this computer will take 2-3 weeks to actually arrive after your order is processed, and if any hardware is DoA, you have to pay for the return shipping just to have it repaired/replaced.

Yes. Your absolutely correct. +Rep also for your observation.

I plan to just order my computer fix, repair, and replace anything off of from newegg. I don't mind the wait either.

actually getting a 3gb gpu is future proofing you. nothing wrong there.

i am getting a min 3gb next gpu releases (q1 for amd, nvidia after). that said my current 1.5gb i havent had a problem with but there's a few games, i.e skyrim, where am almost at my limit.

by the time of rome2 release most gpus will be 2/3gb anyways that's if the op chooses the latest (which he should).

so no harm in the op building now i'd just wait till choosing the gpu until we see what next amd/nvidia bring to the table.

Future proofing is good because you can take your time to get all the right parts rather than having to scramble later, but the problem with future proofing is that most of the hardware will most likely be cheaper in 6 - 8 months.

My suggestion would be to figure out what you want to get, write it down, and then check the pricing in 8 months.

LOL at people that dont know anything about hardware. Actually it makes plenty of difference. Know what you are talking about before trying to quote me. Shogun eats 1 gb like it was nothing. RII will eat 2 like it is nothing. Getting 3 is smart and nearly the same price, especially if you went with something like a 7950 3gb. Plan on maxing Rome with 4-6 armies on large or ultra unit size? Get 3gb of vid mem.

You look at any benchmarks comparing 1.5 GB to 3 GB cards. You'll get about a 2-4, maybe 5 FPS boost. In fact, in a few benchmarks, you even see decreased performance simply because 3 GB is too much for the card. The memory on a graphics card will have the least significance in determining performance.

Please, don't listen to this guy. I don't think he understands what on-board memory even does for the graphics card. The only time you would need a lot of memory - like 3 GB - for a graphics card, is if you're running crazy high resolutions (above the usual 1920x1080/1920x1200) or multiple monitors.

It is future-proofing (I hate that term) your system if you go with 3 GB, but I highly, highly doubt you will not be able to run Rome II on ultra settings with a good 1.5 - 2 GB card. The extra money you'd spend on a 3 GB card replacement can be spent elsewhere to get better price/performance.

Dont worry, nobody is listening to you.

Get 3gb, so your graphical settings wont be auto downgraded, and for the inevitable patches and post release graphical changes that mess up so many in Shogun II. Why pay 300.00 for 2gb, when you can get 3gb for the same price?

2GB right now is good. 3 is future proof.
To OP, wait for 8000 series AMD unless you need a new, computer right this second :-)

If you want to play Rome II on ultra I would recommend getting the GTX 670, the way I see it, is if your motherboard supports SLI you can really boost your performance along the road. So you don't really have to upgrade aside from buying a new GTX 670 and puttin' her into your motherboard along with your first GPU and you should have a beast computer. If you are mostly doing gaming I would just go with the i5 simply because most if not all games don't take advantage of the hyper threading cores of the i7. The i5 should be sufficient, four cores is plenty. Although if you are looking to do some coding along the side or video editing, the i7 would help out with that as well, but like I said if it's strictly for gaming then the i7 would be 100$ waste.

I think you have to wait, rome 2 will be released in a year, so it's better if you buy the last products just before, and we will have a better idea of what type of computer Rome 2 needs.

Also, to play Rome 2 on ultra you are going to need an insane setup i reckon. With the new HUGE battlefields, i'd say a top-of-the-line next gen. GPU(ie. gtx 780/radeon 8990 or 760TISLI/8970CF. That + haswell processor(sandy/ivy should be fine but just if you want to makre sure.) No way in HELL any of the current gen GPU's will -max-, and with max i mean full AA and AF, and Ultra on everything with no FPS drops unless extreme circumstances (zooming right in the middle of a huge fight) AND ON 1920x1080! Maybe, maybeee 690/7990 Remember that there is a new graphics engine in Rome 2.

Then again i, and really anyone who talks about system recs. is talking out of our asses since we really have no idea but that's a rough estimate. As for your computer it should handle mixed Medium and High. Im looking at a Shogun 2 test and 660Ti averages 51 FPS with everything on ultra.
