Laptop Disc Drive isn't working properly

Hi, my disc drive is not working properly, by that i mean it tries and reads a disc, the name of the disc will show in the menu with the name of the HDD drives, but it can't read the disc content. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5742G laptop, the problem began a few weeks ago when my laptop arrived back from being repaired and i noticed the problem when i began to re-install my games. My disc drive also makes a weird sound, like it is trying to read the disc, when i put the disc in there. Is this a hardware or software problem and what can i do to fix it?

Well first I would get back to whoever repaired it and argue that it was working, and it hasn't worked since they had it so they ought to fix it. However, if they refuse, have you looked at the cost of replacing it, or do you have access to an external disc reader at all just to be sure it is not the discs themselves (I assume it is multiple discs but just being sure).

I will, i have also tried multiple discs of different games. What is a good external disc drive reader?
