New Units? No King? Amazonians

*The Amazons were a nation of all-female warriors, associated with various historical peoples throughout the Roman Empire Period and Late Antiquity. In 1542, Francisco de Orellana reached the Amazons (Amazonas in Spanish), naming it after a tribe of warlike women he claimed having encountered and fought there. Amazons also figure in the accounts of both Christopher Columbus and Walter Raleigh, and a famous Medieval traveller: John Mandeville (who mentions them in his book).

*Medieval and Renaissance authors credit the Amazons with the invention of the battle-axe .

*Location: Herodotus placed them in a region bordering Scythia in Sarmatia (modern territory of Ukraine). Other historiographers place them in Asia Minor, or Libya.

*This Faction has no King

, but they do have a Queen. Princesses would be allowed to marry generals, Princes, and Kings.
*Notable queens of the Amazons are Penthesilea, who participated in the Trojan War, and her sister Hippolyta, whose magical girdle, given to her by her father Ares, was the object of one of the labours of Hercules.

Ariosto's Orlando Furioso contains a country of warrior women, ruled by Queen Orontea; the epic describes an origin much like that in Greek myth, in that the women, abandoned by a band of warriors and unfaithful lovers, rallied together to form a nation from which men were severely reduced, to prevent them from regaining power.

I have a few other ideas for units, factions, and banners...but I'm still learning to mod. There are a few female units made by other mods, hopefully I'll be able to use one for this. I would either put them as invaders or just as a small faction (Starting with one region, in South America or in the Black Sea area).

I'd like to say thank you to TWC, and the peoples who have been working on these Mods.

Battling babes - what's wrong with that?! One suggestion - considering their relation with jungles/wooded areas, or so it would seem from old legends, select one of the more heavily wooded areas of the Black Sea area. And their units should have some level of "fear." After all, the codes of chivalry would have made attacking women dishonorable.
On diplomacy, princesses should have more influence than male diplomats, whereas Islamic diplomats should have an increased influence penalty considering Medieval Islamic attitudes towards women. Maybe scripted by some kind of trigger "I'm islamic faction, negotiating with Amazons; -3 influence."

Hope to see this as a working faction.
