    Default A Greek Mod?

I have always been big into 3d modelling, but never have really put my work to use with modifications or within something that can be presented to the public. My work has largely been private and for my own gains. However now I would like to focus and compile my efforts into a large project. I have had the idea of creating a Greek mod. I have seen many mods focusing on this era for METW2 come and go and I now think that this is my time to come public and finally make this happen. So what I want to know from you guys is.. Would you like to see this happen?

Here is what I have already, the images are of a battle between Athens and Thebes...

I like what I see. Too bad the images are a bit small. Do you have any bigger pictures?

I have to say that what i see looks awesome, i would really love to play an ancient Greek era mod for medieval 2 kingdoms. Perhaps you can draw inspiration from Hegemonia City States...

Let's make one: We'll call it Eurotopia and the goal is to get to bankrupcy as soon as you can, while borrowing as much money as you can!!!

serious though - good plan. make a huge map though and add some good detail.

Interesting mod! the greek league would be popular!

One observation though, make the hoplon shields bigger as the default sizes look way to small

Persian Wars are my favorite era in history, aside from the Roman period, I think a mod like this is needed in Med2.

Some close ups would be nice. I can see variety but I can't see enough to see if they are awesome, good, or middle. I can only see they are not bad at this size. There was a greek mod a long time ago. I joined up for a hot minute back when I only knew how to skin. Point being there might be some map resources around and other stuff if anyone around here can help out on the name or direction to point you in.

from looking at these units I think you should improve your specular map a bit, to make that metalic surfices a bit more metalic-looking, I think that would improve them a lot.

I disagree... They already are great! I dislike the old metallic texture which some mods have...

He means adding a reflective layer, not painting the reflection on the metallic texture itself (which is what most mods do). I've never tried it myself with a dark metal texture like in thjs case, but I do know that it does brighten the metal parts overall if the gloss map is left very shiny. Anyway, I agree that it would/could/should be an improvement.

exactly, there is a section of normal map, called the alpha channel in which modder decides which parts of texture will have metalic apperence, and then ofc modder must find balance, if he makes it too shiny metal will look rather like glass then like a metal. But if its too little it happens like above, metalic helmet looks like its made of lather rather than metal.

I also think you should make that skirt shorter and lengs longer.

beacause the skirt is so long, and you had to assing lower ends to bone Ltigh/Rtigh it bends when your hoplite is in formation and in combat, which it shouldnt, perhaps you should try to keep it only as pelvis assigned, which you could do by shortening it as its not supposed to bend like that, that skirt needs to be very short

A 6th/5th century BC Greece mod would be excellent. Perhaps with Persians appearing like the Mongols etc, once in 492 and again in 480.

I think there was a couple of attempts on the M2TW platform like this, but none really got going sadly.

    @Hrobatos
I totally agree with what you are saying there. I still have a lot of reweighing issues to deal with and would also like to eventually create some nice custom animations for these. I have already create a bump for this but just have not adjusted it to make it look as good as it could, my main issue at the moment is like I say just reweighing the model to make sure it looks okay in game.

I have also been thinking of keeping the mods focus entirely on the Peloponnese, as this will reduce the workflows compared to if I was to focus on Greece as a whole. This would probably be something I would focus on at a later stage. I would like to know also if anyone would like to help me on this project?

I am wondering if anyone would be willing to create a nice campaign and battle map UI for the mod? Obviously entirely greek themed?

Perhaps this is of some use to you: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=324840

It's the unfinished Mare Nostrum mod that you perhaps could use as resource. It also has a new battle HUD that's more classical styled.
