    Default Trouble Installing.

    Good evening everyone,

I have been playing Roma Surrectum II on my computer using steam for the last week or two without any incident what-so-ever save for a few CTD here and there. As I read more about the mod, I realized that I didn't have the 2.5 version installed. So, I uninstalled the game and was certain the entire contents of the game folder was deleted from my hard drive.

I proceeded to download the 2.5 patch, which stated it had all of the patches and just needed an RS2 installation. So, I reinstalled RTW using steam. I reinstalled the very same RS2 file that I had been using previously. Finally, I opened the 2.5 installer, and was sure to put it in the right directory (I deleted the extra folder at the end so it would merge with the installation of the game and replace the files it needed to).

So, when I went to run the game, I got the Barbarian Invasion loading screen, my cursor came up as the game was stuck on the screen, and the windows alert/dialogue box sound played, though I was able to view no error, and so naturally, I haven't been able to play at all now, and am kicking myself for uninstalling RS2 in the first place.

    Can anyone please help?

Thank you in advance for your time.

First of all welcome to TWC.

When you removed the old version are you sure you removed all traces of the mod?

Quite often files will be put into the 'virtual store' (or appdata) area. This is a hidden folder so you will have to go into your folder options and change them to 'show hidden files and folders' (or similar name).

This area can be found by running %appdata% in the Windows 7 'search programs and files' area on the Windows start button (not sure what else to call it). The path will be something like 'c:\users\"useraccount"\AppData\Roaming'. The "useraccount" is the Windows accout you sign into.

One thing you should do when havinh multiple steps in installing a mod (the RSII release and the 2.5 patch) is to launch the game after each step. That way you will know which step is causing the problem.

I don't use Steam to run R:TW so I can't check the correct folder name.
