Default The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month

Thought that (especially in this mod) TWC should take a moment to remember those who have died for us in conflicts through out the world and those who fight for us including those in our own ranks here at TWC.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

Rest in Peace heroes of the Entente and Central powers.
alhoon is not a member of the infamous Hoons: a (fictional) nazi-sympathizer KKK clan. Of course, no Hoon would openly admit affiliation to the uninitiated.
"Angry Uncle Gordon" describes me well.

Lest We Forget. I hope I speak for everyone here when I way that I am eternally and honestly grateful to those who fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

    Dreamers
    By Siegfried Sassoon.

Soldiers are citizens of death's grey land,
Drawing no dividend from time's to-morrows.
In the great hour of destiny they stand,
Each with his feuds, and jealousies, and sorrows.
Soldiers are sworn to action; they must win
Some flaming, fatal climax with their lives.
Soldiers are dreamers; when the guns begin
They think of firelit homes, clean beds and wives.
I see them in foul dug-outs, gnawed by rats,
And in the ruined trenches, lashed with rain,
Dreaming of things they did with balls and bats,
And mocked by hopeless longing to regain
Bank-holidays, and picture shows, and spats,
And going to the office in the train.

My favorite poem from the First World War. May all those that served during its tenure, rest in peace.

It's strange watching footage of WWI, because it's kinda like watching ghosts. All those young men are dead, whether they died on the feel, in the hospital, or later in life. Pretty soon there are gonna be no more WWII veterans left, then no more Vietnam veterans left, and so on...

    Happy Veterans day
That is the flaw in your theory, gentlemen and I will not help you out of it. If you choose to deal with men by means of compulsion, do so. But you will discover that you need the voluntary co-operation of your victims, in many more ways than you can see at present. And your victims should discover that it is their own volition - which you cannot force - that makes you possible. I choose to be consistent and I will obey you in the manner you demand. Whatever you wish me to do, I will do it at the point of a gun. If you sentence me to jail, you will have to send armed men to carry me there - I will not volunteer to move. If you fine me, you will have to seize my property to collect the fine - I will not volunteer to pay it. If you believe that you have the right to force me - use your guns openly. I will not help you to disguise the nature of your action. -Hank Rearden

It was only a few days ago that I was visiting the Menin Gate and Tynecote Cemetery. All very moving.

And in my Middle Eastern History class, I learned that the Middle Eastern countries actually had the largest death toll (civilians included) of all the powers involved in the war. I say this because the world must know.
