Squalor! A Big problem....

Hey guys! What's up.
First I want to say tha I I conquered Rome this weekend ! And almost clean all Italia from the Brutii and Scipii... Just 2 provinces are missing! My army is growhing fast... and I have no problems with money anymore.
But Squalor is devasteiting all my principals citys !
I already did all the health buildings but the squalor is in 100% and I don't know what to do! Without this cities my empire will die! They produce all my troops and from them i get tons off money! Can any one help me, please?

First adailton_jr congrats on Conquering Rome.

All I can say is Oh dear. If you've got all the sanitation building and still got high squaler then I take it these are huge cities.

I can only suggest moving you population out of there. Recruit loads of peasants and move them to a smaller city in theo uter reaches of your empire and disband them, increasing that city's population and hopefully lowering the larger cities squaler.

You can always take all troops out of the city, let it rebel and then re-capture it. Then enslave or kill off the population. This is the quickest and easiest way to eliminate squalor.

Congrats on your progress, so far. And, since I haven't seen you before: Welcome to the forums!

For some preventative and curative actions you can take to counter squalor and low P.O., please see my post in this thread. There are also some good posts by others, if you search for them, as this question comes up a lot.

You have probably built too many farms, which is a very common mistake, and a hard one from which to recover. If nothing in the above link will work for you this game; then the advice given --to move out and recapture-- is a workable last resort.

Here are some things i did to control public order in my city/cities.

1. Avoid building upgraded farms.
2. Capture as many wonders (wonders of the ancient world) as possible.
3. Avoid building advanced markets (Great Forums onwards) in cities without a good governor with influence.
4. Build all public health buildings and entertainment.
5. Always try to keep your tax at Very high/High, as much as possible avoid going into low tax rate.
6. Train lots of Town Watch/Peasants as unit quality has no effect, only quantity.
7. Make sure you add the bugfix where the academy should give of Law Bonus.

If you do this right, population growth will stop at 24000. and lastly, produce as many good governors as possible! Hop this helps!
