Would anybody be interested in seeing a zombie mod? And I'm not talking about fantasy zombies, but science fiction (American apocalypse). I have tons of ideas and I will post them if there is interest in such a mod.

You mean as a serious mod or as a wacky fun mod?

What are you going to offer that I can't get by firing up warhammer and fighting a zombie army in custom battles. I fail to see how mass combat formation fighting would translate into "awesome" Ideas for a zombie mod. Especially since every zombie movie I can think of features a squad fighting approach. How are you going to have different zombies without making resident evil total war? Though I'm personally a fan of the zombie craze going on these days, I fail to imagine how such a mod would do more than feed on the mania for its own sake.
I agree with alleycat. Love zombies, but I don't really see the point in a Zombie Total War. Though as a fun mod you could include something like a zombie break out. But even then it wouldn't be the zombies themselves that would make it interesting. But by all means explain your idea if you will.

Even though it seems unlikely this becomes a reality, I will explain my idea.
So basically it will feature a map of the USA, with just three factions (or more if it makes sense to add more).
- Zombies
- The government
- Survivors
Zombies
Zombies start with one city (were the outbreak takes place). They will be able to create huge "armies". The zombies will have high attack, low defence. They only have one zombie unit (or more if I can come up with meaningfull ones). They can create more zombies by "building" a turn people into zombies "building". Or even build ruins of buildings (to represent the ravaged city) which will benefit in them in some way.
The government
To combat the zombies there is the government who has various soldier units (machine guns are possible, like in the hidden flame mod). Also units like policemen could be added. They start of with basically the whole map (USA) minus the city of the outbreak, that the zombie faction "controls". It's their job to withstand the zombie tide, which will be numerous. Leader of the government will be the president (to be determined who). He stays leader the whole game, because one turn will be one day or a few days (if that's possible).
Survivors
Lastly there is the survivor faction. They start with zero cities and a stack of units, representing the people escaping the zombie outbreak city. They are permanently alied with the government. They will be some kind of guerilla fighters against the zombies, and are vital to help the governement win back cities when it takes a beating from the zombies. They will be able to construct makeshift buildings, like hospitals and armouries from wich they can recruit survivors willing to fight. Their top units have machine guns and lower ones will just have sticks, baseball bats and the like. All will look like normal citizens. Oh and both alied factons could stop the zombies from producing by building a search for cure building in the original outbreak city (if the can capture it of course).
So this is basically what I have in mind. And yes, it would be some kind of resident evil experience, but I think that would be something new and different to a game that has nearly all historical mods.
Be all means, give me your honest opinion.
Also feel free to give suggestions for buildings for the three factions. I'm planning to make this mod someday (after some learning).
Hmmm. It's hard to tell. Theoretically it could turn out to be something good. However in practice things always turn out to be different. It all depends on gameplay and immersion. The question you might want to ask yourself constantly is: will it be fun to play? But for it to become fun it would require heavy modding and innovating stuff, like new animations, guns (and tanks?) and what not. I'm in doubt, but I love innovative gameplay and other surprises.
By no means do I intend to scare you away from doing this.![]()

Hmm yes, but I don't think I'll be innovating that much. Most of it will be using the game mechanics for other purposes (i.e. changing names of things and images). I won't be going as far as tanks, that is unless I find out how to make one some day. For the guns, I intend to ask the guy from the hidden flame mod if I may use his animations until I create my own.
However, I'm aware that at the moment I have zero modding skills. And that it will be a very long time before you can see anything playable. But I know it's not impossible to do.
At the moment I'm still working on the concept, and I value highly any ideas people might have.
Well when I first saw this thread I was pretty skeptical at first, however...I saw a really good zombie movie the other day called "Exit Humanity" set a little after the Civil War where a zombie outbreak has taken over the world. Now a modern day setting on Medieval 2 will be difficult, a setting in a time period similar to the 1800's or earlier would be interesting.
