Default Groundbreaker Washington and Colorado to pass legalization of marijuana

Colorado's Proposition 64 to the state's constitution makes it legal for anyone over the age of 21 to possess marijuana and for businesses to sell it.

"The voters have spoken and we have to respect their will," Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said in a statement. "This will be a complicated process, but we intend to follow through. That said, federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug so don't break out the Cheetos or gold fish too quickly."
Now (theoretically) it's a short stop to the supreme court where they can reopen the research into it and declare it unconstitutional to ban. Either that or the fed ignores it until it's so common they can't ban it.

The Obama DoJ has been far more aggressive in going after medical marijuana dispenseries than the Bush DoJ ever was despite promising in 2008 to keep the status quo. I see plenty of Washingtonians and Coloradans getting thrown in Federal Prison from this.

A huge percentage of Washingtonians voted for the bill (there is something of a +10% split as of now) whether they partake or not. Most don't believe that the Feds will let it stand as it. However, many still voted to send a message and to give some legal basis for an appeal when (as this is quite certain) the Federal government responds.

The fed is going to all over this.

I go to Colorado regularly, I hope people will do this at home or away from others, like people should do with cigarettes. The smell of weed is so friggin gross IMHO.

That's your opinion. I'm in no way trying to belittle it. I just want the users to be courteous. I wish the same for cigarette users. No one should be forced to inhale someone's smoke or have to smell it. I'm quite sure I'm gonna run into some 15 year old "420 BLAZE IT **" blowing smoke in peoes faces.

Just be sure if you do you're not headed back into the labor market. That comes up on a background check, and many employers do say "No thanks" to those with their cards.

Clearly you don't live in Northern California. We don't even do drug testing, we only care about productivity. You can smoke crack all weekend, just show up to work on time and ready to work.

I already have a job at an engineering and manufacturing corporation. No one gives a damn.

Orange County isn't really California no matter how hard MTV wants it to be. It's Scottsdale with a beach. Is it nice? Sure, as long as you don't bother with Anaheim or really anything away from the water. The rest of it is just poor Mexicans and hella Asians.

FYI, even San Diego County went to Obama this year. Only the gerrymandering yuppies in OC and the rednecks in Riverside went for Romney. Yes yes I know other counties went Red, but no one ing lives there.

California needs tax revenue and instead of sucking it out of paychecks it needs to come from other sources like taxing drugs.

Give it a couple years. I'm amazed the amount of "liberal" social policies got passed tonight alone.

4 states voted for same-sex marriage. 4. That's absurd to me. I'm exceptionally proud of my country right now.

Its like a tidal wave of sorts. Its only going to get bigger and bigger or in other words more and more states will grant more Americans the rights they should have already.
