    anybody like his films?

Gladiator was excellent (my favorite movie) fantastic opening scene lots of good action, good story, and a nice ending.

Kingdom Of Heaven, not very good. story somewhat boring battles absoulutly not long enough, good action, not long enough last battle a dissapointment. the best part was the first action sequence and acting was plain.

those are the movies i saw of his.
Id like to see Black Hawk Dawn though.

I've seen Blade Runner, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, and Kingdom of Heaven. I liked Kingdom of Heaven, didn't think the battles were short at all.

I enjoyed the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven much more than the theatrical release. The extra 45 minutes enriched the princess' character as well as that of Bloom's. The side-story of her tragic child made her own fall much more plausible, and the revelation that Balian had fought as a horseman and engineer made his character's efforts in the movie far more credible.

Blackhawk Down would have been my favorite, but for two things:

    1) The last firefight, during which the cliche, slow-motion close-up of cartridges being ejected from a carbine was used.
    2) General Garrison stating that he had requested AC-130 gunship support. Given that the lack of heavy air support was such a factor in the Rangers and Delta being in such a dramatic situation, I thought it was too much artistic license to bend the truth of the matter in such a way.

I loved Blade Runner, Gladiator, and Alien equally.

Kingdom of Heaven and Gladiator - excellent. Black Hawk Down - mindless garbage. Most disturbing of all in that film was the final text put up onscreen, recounting the fatalities...over a thousand Somalis dead, and 18 Americans...and then it actually had the grotesque tastelessness to provide a list of the 18 American's names. "Our 18 matter - the thousand they slew are garbage cannon-fodder." I felt like throwing something at the screen.

I didnt get that vibe at all from it- to me it was a chilling reminder of the horrors of the operation.

As for the other films, they're normally good, but they do tend to be a little overrated at times. Gladiator was good, entertaining stuff, but too many people take it for historical fact. Which shouldnt be a major issue, but as an amateur historian, its annoying .

Kingdom of Heaven I enjoyed immensely infact. I wasnt bothered too much about the history this time, since if you've read up on the period the film covers, you'd have to do a film series!

Alien is a classic, no question about it, but really, I used to watch it all the time, so I just get bored of it now!

I'm surprised no one mentioned Alien or Blade Runner. Excellent movies, especially Alien.

I just saw kingdom of heaven yesterday. I was surprised at how good it was, considering from the bad stuff I've heard. It was a good movie.

IMHO, Scott went downhill after Alien. He only had the potential to direct one fantastic film.

    Ridley is very overrated.
I mean this is the guy that did G.I Jane.
And black hawk dawn was just horrible. Probably the most boring war movie ever made.
Yes I know this movie has alot of action which is exactly the problem, it is nothing but action.
It had really no loveable characters, the characters that you kinda get to know aren't very interesting so you kinda wish they would die. War movies need characters that you get to know well and thus develop a liking to the character. But with BHD there is just non-stop action and 0 character development.
If it were up to me I would remove that movie from the war movie genre and put it in the mindless action genre together with Face off and the like.

Kingdom of Heaven was bad, atleast the theatrical version.
Gladiator was good but with the hype that surrounded it I expected more. Good music tho.
Alien is probably Ridley's best movie.

Scratch Alien as his best film.
Hannibal is easily his best film and one of the best Hannibal movies as well.

Gladiator - His best and fantastic movie, I must have seen it about 15 times

Black hawk down - Very very good I thought it was great, The only bad thing (As a previous poster states) Was the Gunship they called in for support...

Kingdom of heaven - I also thought that was very good, It got plain at some parts but the only things i didnt like aobut it was

    A) Orlando bloom was a blacksmith and now he kick ass?!?!
    B) Too much "Omg lets make a water system" inebtween action
    C) They didnt show the huge battle between the crusader army and the saracens. All they did was show the aftermath, i wouldve loved to see them get slaughtered.

But People saying they hated blackhawk down, i liked it, Seen it at least 5 times
