Whats so different with them? I know nothing about it and it would be very usefull if I did.
Tell me about it.

ummm.......according to a site on Google they are a christian denomination that considers themselves a faith community rooted in the beliefs described by the Holy Scriptures. They believe that if you see God's character clearly then you will find him irrresistable. It goes on to tell you how to find God's character, and where it is. They also expect you to eat Kosher....and they believe that Saturday is the sabbath

and about the saturday sabbath...they are correct on this one. Saturday is the actual seventh day "sabbath" as was given to the Jews in the ten commandments. It was the Roman Catholics who changed the Sabbath day to Sunday.

It was? So why does Acts 20:7 refer to the very first Christians coming together to break bread on 'the first day of the week'? Paul talks about how collections of money to help other Christians should be made on 'the first day of the week'. The Jewish sabbath - Saturday - is the last day of the week, so clearly these very early texts are talking about Sunday.Originally Posted by Maron
And some Christian writers not long afterwards made it clear why Christians assembled on Sundays rather than Saturdays. Around 110 AD Ignatius of Antioch specifically states 'we no longer observe the Jewish Sabbaths, but keep holy the Lord's day.'(Epistle to the Magnesians, Ch. 9) and this worship on 'the Lord's Day' rather than Saturday is also mentioned in The Epistle of Barnabus (circa 90 AD), the Didache (50-110 AD) and by Justin Martyr (circa 150 AD).
So worship on a Sunday was a very early tradition in Christianity and was not something the 'Roman Catholics' made up.

1. Maybe they werent busy on "the first day of the week" and wanted to congregate. says nothing of the sabbath day.Originally Posted by ThiudareiksGunthigg

3. Did you misread my post? I said that "Saturday is the actual seventh day "sabbath" as was given to the Jews in the ten commandments." These other texts do not say anything of the sabbath.
I never said that they "made up" anything. Roman Catholics were the ones who changed it and adopted Sunday as the sabbath "officially"Originally Posted by ThiudareiksGunthigg
But the true biblical sabbath is saturday. That is a fact. I dont particularly care what these writers thought. It doesnt change the bible.

Oh dear, looks like it's more of the typical Protestant 'easy answers to salvation' stuff. Oh well.

Yeah, I know. They pushed it back one day so that they could crucify Jesus, or so I've heard. Well, not just Jesus, but so they could crucify people. I'm not arguing with them, I just thought I'd add that in, because I think that's what they are most known for.

Sorry, it's a little off-topic actually. I was just referring to the quick fix 'salvation' that you often get in Protestant denominations, in which a person can say, "I've been saved, so that's my place in heaven guaranteed." As an Orthodox I don't hold such a simple view, and have had many fierce debates with Protestants who keep telling me that man doesn't have to put any effort in at all, but that Jesus will do all the work for us (and also that God has predestined whom He will save, a particularly insidious doctrine in my eyes). Sorry, I have to go to work now, but I'll post more on it when I get back!Originally Posted by Hulahooplolli

@ Zenith......I believe that once you accept Jesus's invitation to salvation you are saved and if you were to die, you will go to heaven. BUT, I do not believe in once saved always saved. I believe there are things that you can do, that will make you unsaved. I believe that you hold onto your salvation by living for Jesus, and following his word. I believe that salvation, in and of itself is free, and easy. But I believe that this is not the end of it. You're life is supposed to change after you become saved. You are supposed to strive and become more like Jesus. Those who don't, and/or live for themselves, or deny Jesus......turn away, their names will be blotted out of the Lambs book of Life.

raise my rep!! haha, actually I try to stay away from naming my christianity. I'm simply a follower of Jesus. I read the Bible...and try to go from there.
@ Erty...could you give us the DL on your beliefs?
