To describe the experience in a few words... It was awesome.
Once scene that I loved, and which literally made all my cousins jaws drop, was the Battle of Pellenor Fields scenes. Truly a masterpiece in the history of cinema. Everything just mixed well, from the dramatic music to the outstanding visuals. It really immersed you as if you were there and made you actually care. Few epics imo have really tapped into that.
One of my favorite moments in the whole trilogy is when all seems lost for Minas Tirith, the forces of mordor are closing into the citadel and all seems doomed for men, until.. war horns are heard from afar and the Rohirrim(sp?) have arrived.
It was absolutely stunning seeing thousands upon thousands of horsemen marshalling to face the seemingly infinite forces of evil. It gave me goosebumps when Theoden rallied his army with his inspiring speech and then him and his army shouting "death!"
Another fav is when in the same battle, the forces of Mordor are routed, but in the horizon the Haradrim and their Oliphants are approaching. You could see fear in the eyes of the horsemen of Rohan, but Theoden again quickly rallies his men, sounds the horn, and charges against pure evil. The battle reminded me of a star wars battle done medieval style. Absolutely brilliant. Absolutely epic.
Makes me imagine how it would have been like in the battle of Pellenor Fields. I imagine total fear at first, but after you see all the suffering and madness surrounding you, you just would not care anymore and just fight till the end.
Man i can still remember the same goosebumps i had when I watched Return of the King years ago in the theatre. I loved it so much i had to watch it everytime someone i know was gonna go see it. So I watched it with my friends first, with my brother a second time, lol and even with my parents for a third.
