Well, this post is the method that I used for my Steam version of Medieval 2 + Kingdoms:

Have you tried that? I followed that exactly, making sure that I actually pressed "No" when the installer asked me if I had Steam, along with all the other directions. And I haven't had any problems with it.
No doesnt work for me, same result. Taking a break from this now, to bad ss is the best mod out there but this is to much trouble.
Want to bump this. Has anyone come up with a solution to this problem?
I've just spent about 90 minutes uninstalling, reinstalling, and re-re-reinstalling ME2 and Kingdoms in every way I can possibly imagine. Driving menuts. I've followed the directions in the "guaranteed install with pics" thread exactly, and I'm still getting a cluster of errors.
Attempting to run the Americas campaign, (I have replaced the contents of the Americas folder with stainless steel stuff), loads the *actual* Americas campaign, if run from the regular medieval launcher. Results in a CA_LIBS error if run from the kingdoms launcher.
Running the normal version of the game from the medieval launcher works, but only launches the original vanilla game. Attempting to run the vanilla game through kingdoms launcher results in a splash screen and immediate crash with a blank error with no information in it.
Attempting to run the actual Stainless Steel version through either version of the launcher results in a CA_LIBS error.
I'm so thoroughly confused. I got SS running on my laptop years ago with almost no fuss at all. I just can't get it working on my PC for the life of me. Driving me crazy.
That's Numberwang!
