Question about my new Turtle Beach headphones
I have Xbox 360 and hoping to get a gaming computer this Christmas. I use Old Altec Lensing speakers and I hook them up to my LED Television through the headphone jack, when I hooked up the audio input to the speakers the sound was horrible, it was crackling constantly, it was the same when I hooked up the audio jack into my Television. So I used the 3.5mm to RCA Stereo Splitter Cable and the sound was great with no crackling, the only problem was it just wasn't loud enough, it was moderately loud on max volume. When I had it hooked up to the speaker it was way louder.
So I figured maybe buying a new Speaker set would help like a Logitech X-540 or Z-2300. Do you guys think if I hooked up the audio to a new speaker set then the crackling noise would go away?

You need an amplifier to make the volume louder with the stereo cable.
Also the crackling could be from the TV, bad insulation or it could be the speakers, it's impossible to tell.

Re: Question about my new Turtle Beach headphones
But my stereo input hooks up to that RCA stereo cable. I don't think it is the headphones speakers because when I hook it up through the RCA cable there is no crackling sound. My speakers have always had this annoying sound and it only has it when hooked up to this television, it is probably the TV which is doing it though it is not as noticeable when you don't have headphones on but still there. It must be the TV, the solution would be to hook up my Xbox 360 to a Logitech Speaker set, then it would probably go away but I hope it would go away for my headphone set to.
Im going to hook up a different speaker set to my TV today just to see.

Re: Question about my new Turtle Beach headphones
Silly question, but do your headphones happen to have an USB connector, as well as the regular headphone jack? I have a pair of Turtle Beach headphone and I hooked them to the TV and experienced crackling and very low sound. I was getting really frustrated with it, but I simply overlooked to plugging the USB for power.

Re: Question about my new Turtle Beach headphones
Plugging the USB for power? What do you mean.
I managed to fix my sound problem and it is a lot louder now. What I did was hooked up my Altec Lensing speaker's audio input to the 3.5mm RCA Stereo Splitter Cable and put the Headphones audio input in the speaker itself, it solved the problem. Yes mine also has a USB and I hook it up to my LED Television. It is a lot louder then before but not loud enough at max volume, I could probably make it really loud to the point that I would wanna turn it down a bit if I got a Logitech X-540.
Thought these headphones were not worth it due to all the problems I was having and I was thinking of returning them saying the headphones speakers crackle but it is fine now and will be way better once I get a new speaker set. They costed me 80$ and it was worth the price since it works with Xbox 360, PC and Playstation 3.

Re: Question about my new Turtle Beach headphones
There should be a headphone jack, a microphone jack and a USB jack at the end of the headphone's wire. For my PC, I hook it up like you normally do and plug in the USB jack. In my PS3 and XBOX 360, it is quite different, but you must plug in the USB because that it what supplies the power to the headphones. It is much easier to use those headphones with an XBOX 360 and a little trickier with the PS3, especially if you want the microphone to work.
Anyhow, I would plug your headphone straight into the 360, instead of the TV. Also, make sure that USB is plugged in the 360, as well.
