Default Church that Americans go to.

Depending on what I make of myself, I might need different attributes.
    Quite simple, no?
I'm an atheist, but there might be a chance that being religious in America would help me, so if I ever decide to get saved, which is the most widespread American protestant church?

Down south it is Baptist, but nationwide Methodist might outnumber the Baptists. Im not sure.

But the most popular form of Christianity across the nation is Catholicism, but that isn't Protestant of course.

No, it isn't. Protestants as a whole make up approximately 1 half of the population, with catholics making up a little less than a quarter. So maybe they outnumber any one myriad protestant denomination, they aren't the majority except in areas where, say, Irish or Italians, who emigrated here in large numbers, are the majority.

hypocritical? just how are we hypocritical?
Hypocritical? Crusades ring a bell? Our faith decries the use of violence! No where do any of the Church Fathers nor the New Testament say we should war in far off lands, or *Persecute* those who think differently than us. Hell, we didn't all do it, but enough of us did in times past!

    @russki
Why not just...you know...not talk to anyone about religion rather than pretending to be one? You know, be...genuine? Much better to just be an atheist than pretend to be a christian and be found out or whatnot.

I was speaking in terms of denomination...If you see the link I posted above about a third of the way down the page it splits it up by denomination where Catholiscism is the most popular.

Nah, catholics have little popular appeal.
What about over in New York where I live?
I know New England is catholic and so are most of the Irish and Italians here, but what about the protestants?
And what are these methodists and baptists?

Why not just convert to Russian Orthodoxy? Or Greek?

And my personal opinion, you should keep your last name, and be Eugene Seylanov. It's good to keep your pride.

I can see why someone would want to change their name. My uncle (who is a lawyer, incidentally) was contemplating changing his last name from Lulgjuraj to a generic American sounding name. My mom had my brother's name changed from Gjon to John. Selyanov is easy to pronounce and doesn't look as bizarre as the other two do to most Americans. I would probably stick with Eugene as my first name, though.

And I would hardly think religion really matters. If anyone asks, just say you're a non-practicing Methodist/Baptist/Presbytarian/Catholic whatever. You don't need to actually convert.

I understand you want to anglicise your name Yevgeniy, don't think the average American can pronounce that name. Eugene is a terrible name, just go for Yuri or something like that. Your surname is beautiful, why cange it into Kauffman? That's a Swiss/German name.

Be a Methodist or Luthern, nobody hates them.

But if you want to change your name just anglicanize it. Seylanov could become Seylan, but Yevgeniy is horrible. Keep it russian enough for you though, like Peter, Ivan, Joseph, even Vladimir would do.

Nobody except Catholics who veiw Martin Luther as the single most devestating figure in western history, comparable to the Anti-Christ. Just stick with Catholicism, ad populum proves us right.

It depends on the truth values of the propositions, in informal logic. In formal or symbolic logic, it's the form of the syllogism that proves whether it's true or not.

For example, if a majority of the people of the world believe the world to be round, is it Argumentum ad Populam? This is an example of the truth value of the proposition trumping the informal fallacy.

But in syllogistic logic, the form of the syllogism determines the validity of the argument, and not the truth values of the statements.

Being a Methodist involved being hated, at one time. Now, in the Methodist Book of Discipline, there is a disclaimer before the section on Methodist beliefs which states that the doctrines are presented "for historical purposes only". Who can hate someone who doesn't believe in anything?

However, as a ministry candidate in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, I can assure you that plenty of people hate us. The LCMS has no disclaimer in the Book of Concord, and is quite the champion of conservative Christian belief. Even other Lutherans hate us!

For all of our honored atheists at TWC, I want to present to you the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, as an object of disdain, disgust, and hatred. We believe in the Triune Godhead, the infallible and inerrant Word of God, and the Real Presence of Christ in the Communion. Women are not allowed into the ministry, or allowed to be elders of the Church, and we don't believe in "Choice". It is my contention that we are at least as viable a candidate for your anti-Christian efforts as the RCC.

Sorry, RusskiSoldat, I forgot about your original question. I think that the largest Protestant denomination in America is the Southern Baptist Conference.

Nobody? I hate them. My grandmother is methodist, and she doesn't give me enough money. I can only draw the most logical conclusion and assume that her inhibition to empty the family coffers on my accord stems from her religious convictions.
