    Default Couple of Thoughts

Why does Carthage get owned by the AI? Almost every campaign I have played as Rome, they get owned by the Gallaeci and this is with me leaving them alone aside from destroying any armies they send once in awhile to Caralis. To me, destroying Macedon and the Greeks takes precedence, hate fighting phalanxes.

Second, one turn really is epic in some senses. If you destroy a stack or two, it takes the AI time to build back up armies. I like that. Makes the way I expand and fight more strategic.

Third, are the Averni really that much better than the Boii and the Cimbri?

Fourth, I never really payed much attention to unit stats, but I recently fought the Boii, outnumbered them, but their units had bonuses in the snow and woods, and I got owned. Liked that. Made me pay more attention.

Fifth, anyone else do this - Disloyal governors or generals go on a boat pirate hunting and die?

And lastly, do you always have the emperor set up in Rome?

I know that but what does he mean by Carthage gets owned by the Gallaeci!? that Gallaeci conquer Carthage or what!? if so then I agree... they only attack Caralis, a script should be implemented so that they debark in Sicily, go for Massalia, Northern Italy etc... they are too static... too quiet... they should be more active!

in my campaigns, Gallaeci usually kick carthage out of iberia and invades africa.

In my one and only campaign as Rome, currently ongoing, Carthage was less trouble to me than Galleacia. I easily took the city of Carthage, and methodically took all of north Africa. Galleacia actually stymied me until I built up several legions out of Emporia to strike west, and circled two more by ship to attack from the west and north coasts.

    Yeah, same here..

Before landing my forces in Iberia, the Gallaeci had total control of it...Carthage was reduced to a few places in N. Africa but are quickly becomming extinct now that Carthago is a troop center for me =P

Whats wierd for me, and I am wondering if its the same for any of you...The Dacians are pretty much the 2nd strongest/largest faction in my campaign...They own everything north of Greece as far up as you can go, destroying the Cimbri, and Boii in the process...They also own from Gauls eastern border (except Illyria, I own that) all the way to the Bosphoran...I am more than alittle worried about facing them...

Also, usually I thought the Seleucids dominated the Ptolomies, but in this one, between the Ptolomies owning all of the holy lands and much of Asia Minor, and the Parthians wierdly random conquests (They have taken random places within the empire but still have a border with them) It looks like by the time I reach over there I wont be facing the Seleucids (prolly just as well right? Those Cata Ele's are nuts! =P)

What he is asking is WHY Gallaeci overpower Carthage. Carthage has some quality spear units as well as Elephants. I think the mecenaries available in the countryside of Iberia put them ahead of most factions. Both in terms of quality and sheer numbers of mercenaries available. You can quickly cobble together tough armies with plenty of Spanish spear mercenaries including the tough Celtiberians. In Africa you mostly can only recruit Libyan light infantry and skirmishers. Carthage doesnt have enough troop building centers to overcome this. At least thats why i think its easier for the Gallaeci to send waves of stacks at you.

hmmmm hope this will be fixed in 2.6... I mean I loved the stories of Hasdrubal and Massinissa fighting Scipio in Spain... Massinissa fighting Syphax etc. oh and Lylibaeum should be given to Carthage and should have stone walls like in Massalia... I mean Pyrrhus attacked the citadel but had no chance of conquering it and wanted to negociate a truce... hmmm except for the fact the other Greek cities opposed and you know the story, he became unpopular etc. anyway the fact is that Carthage should have an impenetrable fortress in Sicily so that it will be more active in Italy and hell throw some elephants in Iberia if nothing else works... some cavalry units... one or two armies on the field, with rich cavalry Numidian, Lybian, Lybiphoenician and some Sacred Band of Astarte and Iberian infantry etc... I mean cavalry played a large role there in Spain... Carthaginian cav I mean... and some Roman troops as well... make Saguntum Roman... the reason why the Punic wars started, agression of Saguntum, friend with Romans and Greeks... etc. oh and Emporiae should be a Greek city... an idea would be the Massaessyli or Massyli under the Romans to put Romans in Africa so that we have an interesting campaign for the ones that play Carthage too... to be able to play the battles between the swithing sides of Numidians, first heavily influenced by Carthaginians and then by Romans... I mean in my Carthaginian campaign I threw off Romans easily from Spain, too easily much too easily, and in Africa is soooooo quiet................ where are the historical battles!? ty! all the best!

12 years in, wait until you have gotten further in your campaign. Which faction are you playing as?

Rome One Turn. It's a roll of dice. Carthage either completely dominates or gets completely annihilated. That's all there is to it.

Sparta is like that too. Either wiped out early or they controll Greece. City States usualy dont last in Greece with Macedon and Sparta surrounding them.
