    Default maps? are wrong?

HaLLO there im a new member.

I've played rome total war and the barbarian expansion, but my only concern is that the cities in Illyricum are totally wrong placed...for example..Dyrrachium its in central today albania not in croatia.
and why isnt there an illyrian army? why only mercenaries? or just the whole illyrian land was empty with no kings?

    thanks

If you want to play as the Illryians try some mods over here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=141. Vanilla RTW has a lot of inaccuracies which some mods have fixed. I would recomend RTR or EB for historical accuracy.

I agree, there are a lot of geographical inaccuracies in the vanilla version, some of them very, very minor and some of them a bit worse. My biggest observation is the location of Siwa, which is wayyyy too far south in the game. I think in many cases it doesn't really matter, though- just like a movie, you can't expect total accuracy, and in my mind it doesn't really take away from the experience for me (even though I am a geography, history, and classics major who should be totally indignant about this). I agree though, if it bothers you a lot, I would recommend checking out the mod workshop for some mods that address your concerns.

With regard to the Illyrians, I believe they did have kings, but each one did not control much territory at a time, and from the RTW perspective it is probably better to classify them as barbarians or rebels. I do know the Hegemonia team over in Hosted Projects is working on a mod that, among many other things, addresses that as well- I'm very much looking forward to that mod, it's going to be spectacular.

Finally, let me be among the people to extend a welcome to the forums. You'll find it's a great place, and I hope you stick around.

    Thanks

Well i dont think that is very hard to give the exact locations. What was ancient Durrachium is today Durres. and so on..as for the kings, yes ok i agree somehow, but still the place was ruled by illyrians not rebels, king Bato, Gentius..Teuta werent rebels. and the other thing i noticed is that the illyrian territory is controlled by Greeks??

Anyway i love the game, but some things have to change cause this is not a "fantasy" game

    thanks

There are only 21 faction slots, so Ca had to decide which factions to include and which to not. They decided to not include Illyria.

i understand, maybe, but you cant ignore a huge territory such as Illyricum, and you cant make it greek, or roman or somth else.
It's history and as i said before , this is not a 'fantasy' game. Ive seen lots of factions which i dont think that were so famous comparing to Illyrians.
