    Default Need advice for Handheld/Tablet

    Hi Guys

i thought i could ask around here, since there are so many tech-interrested people are here.
My question is simple (sorry 4 my bad english):
is there a alternative solution for people who worked with handhelds like palm?
specificly, the thing is, i donīt want any connection with the internet via w-lan or cloud or else.
just like the palm, hooked up via USB and a own OS or schedule programm.
the thing is: i just need an scheduler, and a adress list/book which i can backup on my pc or laptop.... and knowing the hardware and software doesnīt change within the next couple months...
and also NO itunes (donīt get me wrong, i really like the handling of the tablets today but the cost of being totally transparent (especially for 3rd partie companies) is an absolute NO-GO!!

is there a possibilty of using a "no name" tablet which works with eg outlook or something similar (ubuntu programm)

any hint would be awesome... since i ask a lot of people in those com-stores and noone has a clue

thanks in advance and take care

The only way you are getting any Microsoft Office products on a tablet is with the Microsoft Surface tablet running Windows 8 which is pretty expensive. If you want a dirt cheap tablet that can do basic tasks the Nexus 7 is probably the best bang for your buck. You can use with google docs which is an alternative to expensive office products.

There are apps that work offline. You just have to connect once to download them.

    It depends on the app.

Check out play.google.com and see if you can find an app that advertisies that. I don't know of any offhand, sorry.
