I am low on funds at the moment but will definitely look at this, this is the official map after all and WTW will try to follow this map as closely as possible.
maybe Inarus could look at this too, it might give him some inspiration for his 3d models.

Ahhh i have been waiting for this for quite some time. Do we know if this is just maps or is it the big bad encyclopedia of lore and maps that the admins for the ASOIF site have been working on? I will definitely be purchasing this come pay day.

These are just the maps. That big encyclopedia is called a World of Ice and Fire and will be released in 2013.

I just got this book today, and I'm quite pleased with the maps it has. We actually get a view of the Shadow Lands and Asshai, as well as a new land called Ulthos that I've never heard of.

Maybe something to do with the 'Go East to Go West' thing....

I know its weird. The map only shows a tip of that land/continent. Asshai is essentially at the end of this long triangular stretch of land with the Shadow Lands to the north of it. The Shadow lands are just a range of mountains with that glowing grass growing all around it.

I need a digital scan of the continent of westeros and perhaps the west coast area of the Essos incase I need to map it someday.
I dont need a full page scan, just make sure you cover everywhere, everything is clear and straight and I can stick the pages together through Photoshop/Gimp.

Just to note that scanning the map and posting pictures of it online is copyright infringement. Small areas are okay under fair use, but large-scale, high-quality images of the whole map or substantial sections of it are a big no-no.

Unnecessary. There are multiple great maps of this area available already. This (linked on this very forum, in fact) is probably the best for your purposes (everything east of the Red Waste is invalid, or rather accurate only to the HBO show, but the western areas are fine).

No maps show those things, not even these new ones. That kind of detail does not exist because GRRM has not decided on it. All of these maps, even the LoIaF one, are simply going by the info from the original map of the Free Cities shown in A Dance with Dragons, which was light on this kind of detail.

I've always been interested in maps and this made me very excited. I went the the local American Book Center(ABC) and they had a copy there to look in and it was amazing. Shame we are not going to know more about these lands whatsoever. Most of these countries and cities in Essos past Qarth have never even been mentioned yet.

Actually, a lot of the new locations will be expanded upon at least a little bit (if only a paragraph or two apiece) in The World of Ice and Fire, the full-on companion book out late next year. GRRM included brief descriptions of them in the info he sent his publishers and these will be incorporated into the new book (which actually is going to be a proper book and, from the sound of it, a pretty big one).

here is a great sub text on copywright fair use by merging the image and emailing it wouldnt be a problem as your not selling the product or giving it to the public it is also for educational purposes for you to do your own art in a a new concept. this is only true providing it is only used for the purposes stated

to make section 1 fair use you must merge etc
to make section 2 fair use its used to make new art eductional for a FREE NON PROFIT GAME
to make section 3 fair use just use it for education and then delete
