Problem with towers and batteries in TEd, please help me out.

Hi, I'm trying to get gatling and cannon towers and coastal batteries working in TEd, but I don't know how. The coastal batteries often don't fire. When I first tried them, they fired even as neutral, now no matter if neutral or captured, they often won't do anything. Often they'll only fire if an enemy gets very close to them or they'll only fire at my units, even if the batteries are captured by me (also what's weird, not only they fire at my units, they seem to wait for them to rout, then they start fire).

As for the towers, I was told you get access to gatling and cannon towers by increasing their tech level. I did that, tried all 5 levels but they still fire arrows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
