    Default Immortal Elephants

Now I've fought elephants before and don't worry at all about them as long as i have 1 or 2 archer units in my Legion, a few volleys of fire arrows will usually send them "running amok" and negate them as a threat to my army, I've just landed a silver chevron legion in Africa to sort the Carthaginians out and have 2 archers in my army and they let loose 10 fire arrow volleys a piece at one unit of forest elephants (the weak ones) and not even one of them died, have their stats been changed with the recent patch..?

    thanks

Yes those Elephants actualy dealt me a loss in the Siege of Carthage. Carthage had 3 Elephant units and i couldn't get any of them to run amok even with four units of Velits emptying their javelins on them. fire arrows also don't work so quick on them. Ill will go back and starve them out.

Thank you, but it does seem there is not a final answer you can rely upon...

Nope, just that in 2.6 it will be resolved, for now, also in the same thread I would read Sertorio's post about the elephants in the EDU of 2.1 and the ones in 2.5, perhaps tweak those a bit if Tones method doesnt seem to work. (which it should)

Also, I after edting the files, on the launcher I think you need to use the delete map.rwm option before starting the game in order for the changes to work.

I havent tested these yet so im just relaying info, but if anyone finds that either of those methods work, please let us know!

I've noticed that indian war elephants and the forest elephants can be easily scared/killed, although it takes quite a bit of effort and a lot of javelins. Cataphract elephants on the other hand...`auto_win attacker looool. I don't even bother.

Carthage's elephants are pertty op imo. They won every battle for me in italy

I have fought a battle against the remnants of Pyrrhus armies in italy and these damn asian elite elephants slaughtered probably 800 men in one battle, without any losses. I have attacked them from all sides with principes, triarii and others, but either the troops fled before the elephants, or they were slaughtered

You mean the Towered elephants? I haven't come up against them yet, but I would imagine they are similar to the cataphract elephants in power.

Noo they are not the same
In fact when iwas facing the cathraginian elefants(in fact i still face them) i had no problem running them ammok and then kill them in 2.5
Many fire volleys a proper cavarly charge and the elephants lie dead or running through the enemies lines

The main diff between the Ele's of Carthage and the troublesome Cata Ele's is the ammount of survivability the Catas have, considering they are armoured from head to toe, while the towered ones arent armored at all, they both do the same dmg I believe, but its just the Catas are so rediculously armored. I believe its already a challenge to kill or run Amok the towered Eles, now take that difficulty and add a BUNCH more armor and you basically have the Cata Elephants issues...
