    Default Just a bit worried...

    Heya folks,

So I have been playing my Rome campaign as of late, and I dont know if I am just being paranoid or if this is an issue...

Anyways the issue is that my faction leader is married and is pushing close to thirty, his wife is in her mid-twenties. They have been married for quite awhile now I think but they have not had any kids...Thus no heir =/

I know, a 29 year old and a 24 year old (should) still have lots of baby making years ahead of them but I -swear- that pretty much every marriage I have seen in the game has resulted in a baby within a year, maybe two...So thats why im a bit worried, also he has the "Fertile" trait...

And all this wouldnt really be that big of a deal if in my family tree there werent 3 other un-wed woman (...Or....Girls...in some cases...) one 16, the other 18, and the last 25...I would have atleast thought the 25 year old would have been married by now...Is there somthing wrong with the family or am I overreacting?

    Thanks for your time! =)

As far as I know, birthing children is pretty random in this game. I've had family members with the fertile trait that never had a child, but then I'll have the opposite of that (lame I think?) have seven kids. It will always balance out, your family might just be in a rut (or, if you're looking at it from an animalistic perspective, maybe they're NOT in rut season ). I wouldn't worry about it. I've never had a campaign end due to lack of family members. It ebbs and flows, just be patient and they'll come.

That'd be funny if you could put your general in a city for a couple turns to increase the chance of banging his wife hahaha. All that time out on the field, you know...

It seems to me if you have quite a bit of territory and some of that are without governors, your family members start the baby-making conveyor. Maybe its not the case, but it just seems to me its like that.

BAHAHAH! It would make sense tbh...Wives were not allowed to accompany the army or follow their husbands..(well..Im sure exceptions were made for the head honcho of the Legion, let alone the Empire =P)

But no, it would seem definately -not- rut season...Just hope he gets some action before its too late! Never know with this games random deaths

    Anyways thanks for the reassurance!

p.s. the opposite of Fertile is Flaccid (In this mod anyways) and also, there could be more than one "shooting blanks" trait

    @Kaiser
Dang...lol every one of my cities has a Governor in it...I control almost all of Iberia, all of Southern and central Greece (not into Thrace yet...Dem Dacians are scurry!), Illyria, Latium (doi =P), and almost all of N. Africa, all with Gov's >.<

Mostly true. You will only get new family members if your empire has more regions than of-age, male family members. Only then children will be born, which won't count till they are of age.

Normal Generals or Governors (the ones you recruit) aren't counted in to this. Whether the regions are governed or not makes no difference.

As long as you have recruited them, it makes no difference. Only be sure to put your faction leader in a city.

Hmmm. I have way more regions than male FMs. I have to recruit a new general almost every turn just to keep my regions governed and to provide my stacks with leadership.

The rate is around 2:3 (Family members/regions).

With 73 regions I have on my family tree:

    Adult males (all ages): 17
    Underage boys: 5
    Underage girls: 3
    Marriage age girls: 0
    Spinsters: 4
    Barren unions: 12

I know that there are some FMs who are not members of the ruling family and do not show up on the tree, like the Scipio family. But they are not producing much in the way of offspring either. There are 20 of them. I currently have 51 recruited generals.

Unless the non-ruling families have a whole slew of kids out there than I cannot see, just waiting to come of age, I tend to doubt your 2:3 ratio is really hard wired in the game.

I don't mind. I like the idea of plebs running the Republic.

Are you 100% sure this is true? Is there a thread with some evidence / statistics somewhere?

It depends on how much generals/family members you have overall. If you have a lot of them your men won't get any children and their daughters will grow old without marrying.

There's a ratio of GM to total regions. If you have fertility problems you need to conquer more land.

I notcied if you get the Filthy minded and promiscuous traits in combination with the drinking companion you pop out kids like crazy. However if you instead get prudish and sterile don't expect any kids.
