Default Frequent AMD graphics driver crashes

    Symptoms:
Pc stops responding. Sometimes I can still move the mouse around, sometimes not. Either way, it ends with a brief black screen and then returns to normal (though games will crash).
Happens several times a day (maybe once every 3 hours, something like that). The problem started when I moved my pc, but how that managed to affect the driver I don't know. I think I updated to 12.8 soon after, so that may also be it. Currently I'm on 12.10. I have also tried removing the driver then reinstalling it (although using the catalyst uninstall thing, whether that's good enough for you I don't know).

    Edit:I'm also getting BSOD's

Edit 2: Same crashes with graphics drivers uninstalled.

    Dxdiag attached.

may be the gpu needs resetting, also check the memory banks - to see if they are seated,
(just to be sure. since you got the case off)

before you do that, do a system restore - to the date b4 the problem started accrued.
    (before the move)

Remember when opening up the case, make sure you switch off at the wall, wait for at least 20mins to discharge any current in the psu. (use a usb device IE: Light/lamp)

gives you an excuse to make a tea

Anyhoo - this is from a hardware fault finding POV, from "The problem started when I moved my pc"

only attempt this if you know how to seat cards

I should have mentioned- I took the graphics card out before moving it . It was in an antistatic bag and all. I'll give it a lookover later today though

Did you do a driver sweep? You may need to uninstall all past drivers and re install your current one after. Use driver fusion.

most of these driver clean apps are junk,

load up the newest driver choose uninstall first clean all files, best method is to delete AMD / ATi folders in the registry itself which is fairly simple to do if running an Intel System on AMD its a bit more tricky. regardless

if you have no idea what your doing, Driver Sweeper, ATi man both work altho i don't recommend these utilities very often learning the registry method takes less time and if its specifically a driver problem it fixes it.

    Driver Sweeper=Driver Fusion.

I do agree with cleaning your registry though.

What BSOD error messages are you getting? Specific error messages might help to nail down your problem so please post them in their entirety.

Question - have you run Memtest on your RAM? What you're describing could also be a memory issue (black screen after loading a large amount of data in the memory). It might be a good idea to check your memory a few times just to rule it out. Good luck!

After deleting the contents of c:\AMD, the problems have all dissapeared. I'm quite sure I didn't do anything else, so happy days. Thanks for the help
