A statement on behalf of, Aden, the Black Prince.
Dear All. This is a statement on behalf of my client, Aden, the Black Prince.
Some time ago, the Quaestor Garbarsardar, in association with the Praetor Belisarius, and in breach of the staff policy of public unity, and Garbarsardar's own calls for staff to work together, initiated a case against the then Quaestor the Black Prince with the Consilium de Civitate. The Black Prince believes the prosecution to be a continuance of a long running vendetta that Garbarsardar has held against my client and which has been the subject of numerous complaints to the senior staff, all of which have been ignored, and on at least 1 occasion summarily deleted by the Imperator. Following the eventual completion of the trial the CdeC aquitted the Black Prince of the charges of threatening a client in an attempt to influence a vote and of abusing the patron/client relationship. The CdeC did find the Black Prince guilty of attempting to blackmail staff and sentenced him to a 1 month suspention of his rank, effective from the 26th July 2006 until the 26th August 2006.
My client, the Black Prince wishes to thank the numerous people who have posted and above all PMed him with messages of support. Despite there being numerous grounds for appealing this judgement, the Black Prince does not wish to do so, as he believes a further prolonged and public appeal to not be in the best interests of the Curia, or of TWC. The Black Prince does wish to note however that neither the trial procedure, nor the method of judgement were conducted in accordance with the rules of the version of the Civitates Behavior Act that was in force when the trial was conducted. He also wishes to make it known that the trial procedure was grossly unfair to the defence, and to a certain extend to the alleged victim, that evidence vital to the defence was not made available to the defence team, that the staff refused to disclose necessary evidence.
Both myself and my client find it highly hypocritical that the body responsible for upholding and enforcing the Constitution and the Laws is itself acting in breach of them.
The Black Prince, whilst declining to appeal the judgement of the CdeC in this matter, calls for the civitates to engage in a full and proper review of the current civitates behavior act to ensure that future trials are conducted in a fair and just manner.
The Black Prince, in responding to calls for the trail to be made public has no problem with the transcripts of the trial being made public, but suggests that some caution is necessary for a full disclosure, regarding the publication of private data used as evidence. For a proper trial to be conducted it should be conducted in the public domain save for where such a situation would compromise or be otherwise unjust and unreasonable to a witness victim or defendant.
