Default Laptop recomedations. REP for helpfull comments.

Hello guys, I really need your help for now. I am in need for a laptop in three weeks. I move to Malta in three weeks and need an computer there. Thing is, my budget is not very high since I need to pay much more things aswell. Its around 400 euro.

Things what I want from a laptop:

    1. A fast and good proccesor. I want 2.0 giz, not a must but want to see it this tough..

    2. Much working space. This is a must. I'm going to work at a local newspaper and need to edit photo's in photoshop. Need 4 gig at least, and yea I know Its going to be hard to work in photoshop with a crappy laptop

    3. A laptop where I can play some decent games at. Like the first total war titles, Rome, Medieval and meaby some Minecraft or Company of Heroes. Don't need to play it in high settings but yea, some simple games would be cool.

    4. Much gigabytes memory. I need it to store RAW pictures....

Much thanks, and ofcourse reputation will be awarded for people with helpfull comments!

To play RTW or M2TW you just need the HD 4000, I dont know about CoH, but it shouldnt be more intensive than that.

Thing is for photo editing, depending on the paper you are going to need a high quality screen, which the entry level of those is the sony 1080p or the 900p from the vaio Z (which is currently EOL), or macbooks pro (specially the retina models due to the workspace, can you imagine pushing all those pixels that you get in a 27'' 2560*144o monitor in a 13'' screen?) or the workstation class.

I dont know where you live, but 1080p res is a must, and try to look for the non gaming offerings from clevo, they should be around that price of 400 euro, and with those you can usually get a good panel of 1080p with 95% of aRGB gamut.

Thanks, I never really cared about the resolution, thought every laptop had a 1080p but turns out there is indeed way lower aswell. I need it indeed for editing pictures. Mac book issn't my budget going to pay.. I will look for a laptop with 1080p first

look here for a large reseller thread. The 1366*768 panels are incredibly terrible, so anything 1080p would be a step up. However I think you can configure a clevo with the best TN panel on your budget still.

but just to be sure you are aware that with your budget it would be just hard to buy a desktop, imagine a notebook? think of getting last years models

For the money, Trinities are great gear. Getting a decent panel with a trinity is easy enough provided you do the research.

a decent panel with trinity? not going to happen, the only panel that is below average but still 1080p is the one equipping the dv6z, not that the asus models that pack it are also any better.

People have a different definition of decent. I agree that many screen afficiandos will not find 95% of panels out there acceptable. I'm not one of those people eventhough I know the benefits of a good panel and how to tell one apart. That said, I see little reason for anyone to concern themselves with he screen if they don't make huge deal about it. Most people usually don't seeing as how it is difficult to accurately measure how good or bad a panel is just from looking at it. 1080p is hard to find on any laptop. I'd be perfectly satisfied with a 900p on a Trinity.

    www.xoticpc.com

Check that site out, they are cheap and let you customize what you buy. Bought a gaming laptop there for around $1000 and it comes with a case and other goodies depending on the sale going on.

They are good and back all their products.

i bought this one because i wanted a 17" screen

Also I wouldn't ask this site, most people here don't know what they are talking about. Register on hardforum.com and ask on that site. Ask yourself, do you want to ask hardware questions on a site mostly populated by 14 year olds or people who actually know hardware and equipment?

I need it to store RAW pictures
If you are going to be doing work with images and photoshop you probably want a decent video card so I wouldn't get the intel hd graphics laptops.

    .
All forums have a population of 14 year olds. I used to think about The Basement in the same way, but we're not ignorant by any means thank you.

that is the single most important thing when you are working professionally with image editing programs. Do you know how many trinity laptops have 1080p screens? Dv6z and the N56, thankfully the N56 uses a 1080p IPS panel, unluckily its a not a good panel in terms of color reproduction, also its a model that aint very much cheap and its extremely hard to find. Hell depending on his level of required color reproduction NEC displays are necessary

Kanaric there is one thing called budget, we are pushing it already with him to get a 1080p panel. Also hardforum is a waste of time when it comes to notebooks, he should try notebookreview, probably talk with people that work on the field like KCEtech1.

Resolution is not the most important quality in a panel Kaz. You know it's not. 1080p isn't a cutoff point either, you can accomplish much with a good quality 900p oanel.

no the res aint the most important quality in panel for you, for me that has to work with a lot of codes its one of the requirements.

The thing here is that current 900p panels that are good? only one, its 13'' and it comes with the sony vaio z.

The quality of the 1080p panels as I already said is superior to other panels with different resolutions, including the 768p and 900p, they have better contrast, color accuracy, distribution and are usually more evenly lit.
