Default The Legend of Zelda: The King of Thieves [Signups closed]

    Darkness....

Since time immemorial, the land of Hyrule has been plagued with evil, lurking in the shadows.

When darkness fell in Hyrule, it has been turned away each instance by a Hero of legend....

A beacon of Hope in the dark.

It would seem that the darkness would be turned away by this light...

And inevitably, the light would be lost in the sands of time...

    And darkness would return.

As the Sun and the Moon, the darkness and the light seemed to focus on two timeless figures...

One, the beacon of hope, the Hero of Time...

The other, an unspeakable evil, which would take on different forms, through the use of powerful magic.

And the fate of Hyrule fell between these two pinnacles of hope and despair.

Many legends have been told, detailing the great cataclysms between the Light and the Shadows.

    Between Hope and Fear...

    Between Love and Hatred...

    Between Joy and Sorrow.

As the pages of history continue to turn, a new chapter begins...

But the sands of time are only seemingly boundless...

And when the final grain of sand falls in the great hourglass, Hyrule may be lost forever in darkness.

Large Game - "Choose your own adventure" game.

Premise: In the style of Pirate Ship Mafia I and II, emphasis is placed on treasure, in this case, Rupees, for most players. Therefore there will be a weighted ranking system, with points, to determine a winner.

    • The game will proceed with traditional Day and Night phases, as in Mafia.

However, there will be powerful magic in this game, and the normal flow of time may be interrupted.

    • In addition, not everyone in the game may only be interested in wealth.

    • It is possible for players to deliberately choose the path of good over evil, or succumb to the power of darkness.

    • It is also encouraged for certain roles to follow a certain path, and they will be given bonuses for following that path, and abilities that will help them along their way.

    • The game may evolve into a traditional mafia game, good versus evil, or it may proceed along a more neutral path that walks between them. The choice is yours.

This game is a game for active players. If you go inactive for three days and nights, you will be unceremoniously replaced or destroyed at my sole discretion.

This game rewards activity and participation. If you are not active or do not participate in all available actions, then you will not score very well.

Do not sign up if you think you cannot play this game through to the end. If you disappear without explanation, I will not let you sign up to future games of mine.

This game requires a large number of active players.

    And it will be fun.

In. Bear in mind I'm going away next Tuesday (30th October) to Saturday (3rd Nov), Hopefully the game won't have started by then though.

In hope this is as fun as the War of Hyrule game I remember so fondly...

The game is past the concept stage and more in the "toss this idea in, toss this idea out" stage.

Stuff I'm pretty sure I want in:

Opening setup: Everyone has a unique character from the Zelda Universe.

Individuals will have a wealth win condition: Be the wealthiest. Stealing is possible. Hence, King of Thieves.

There will be some special roles with side quests and such for flavor, but everyone can win the game via being the wealthiest. That's your PRIMARY GOAL. SECOND TO NONE.

Individual actions: Every player can do one of several individual actions.
Group actions: ADDITIONALLY, every player can do one of several group actions.

Therefore solve by brute force or forcing inactivity by mandating group actions is impossible.

    • Individuals can try to steal gold, try to guard their own gold/items, or they can use items, or try to steal items [at the minimum for every role.]
    • Groups can try to steal gold together, which overpowers individual gold guarding. However, guarding your gold will reduce the amount of gold stolen regardless.
    • Groups can try to protect someone from death.
    • Groups can try to kill someone.
    • Groups can try to protect someone's gold and items, preventing all theft whatsoever, under most circumstances.
    • Individuals can bribe others to do certain things, and the gold will be paid only if that action is completed.
    • Actions which are neutral (stealing for example) do not affect alignment.
    • Actions which are good (groups protecting people's lives) impact alignment by one step to the positive.
    • Actions which are bad (killing people, for example) impact alignment by one step to the negative.

Moving from neutral to good or evil alignment gains the ability to be counted as a winner, regardless of your gold total, as long as your side outnumbers your rival at the game end.

What "Game End" means is still in the design stage, but I have a fair idea. Won't reveal it here, yet.

Another thing to keep in mind:

DEATH- may not be permanent in this game. Continue watching and playing until it is OVER.

    Rule:

Random.org will not be used in any way shape or form during the game itself.

What I will do, is take the numbers 1-20 and randomize their order.

Then, for each sequence of 1-20, those will be your results for your actions which would otherwise require a random.org/dice roll. They will be in a specific sequence for each person, and it will be different from player to player.

But this also means that it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to consistently get bad odds.

You cannot roll a 1 followed by another 1. You will have to go through all 20 numbers before you can roll a 1 again. And you'll even be aware, at that time, that you're unlucky, should the game last that long.

Your sequence will not change. And, there will be 20 different sequences. So for every 20 players, there will be 20 unique sequences of numbers.

Luck is therefore only a factor in determining WHICH sequence of rolls you get.

The end result: Literally everyone has the exact same odds of big steals or poor steals, no one has an advantage, however, no one will realistically be able to tell whether their odds are good or bad that night unless they've been stealing for half the game.

I will also post the sequence of numbers for all players at end of game.

This means I, as host, CANNOT play favorites, and again, your fate is not determined by random.org giving you a series of lucky successes or unlucky failures.

Random.org cannot screw you. Nor can I.

Everyone will be aware of this fact up front.

I can mercilessly WOG you for inactivity. And I will.

If I get to WOG more than 5 players, I am declaring myself the winner of the game.

[Not really, but there will be smiting worthy of an evil god]

I don't think any mafia section, with the possible exception of CFC, is currently active enough to get 40 players.

Yeah, this is true. But! I shall give it a valiant effort and, I could host this game with 25.

The nature of such a setup means the more the merrier but not required to have a huge bunch of bananas to leave a satisfying feeling.

I'm in and I'm bringing my Lucky Cows also.

A question: Do some people start off with VCs other than Rupees? Because I can't honestly imagine Link or Ganon giving a toss about Rupees beyond buying cool stuff at the shop.

I like Mafia! Play it at the CFC! (And the Org)
If you want to invite me to something I would appreciate it if you did it via my CFC one rather than this one.
Also, if this signature is too big, tell me, then I will fix.

No, Link and Ganon love Indian currency! What do you think started their big fight in the first place?
