So yea, I'm not a fan of Tea party candidates or supporters in general but I understand most are good people who just have views that are different then mine.

Richard Mourdock on the other hand... the GOP should be EMBARRASSED that this looney is representing them in a senate race. Religious fundimentalists like this guy should be nowhere near the U.S senate.

The worrying factor is he's a serious candidate to represent half the population in his state as a senator, essentially saying half his state believes what he does. What worries the OP and me in this case is the fact there are actually people out there who would support him in any way.

So even if it's not the entire population, there is a pretty good chunk that he does represent.

I still don't understand why they would come to Britain of all places... if you walked up to the majority of British people and said "I'd like to talk to you about God" they'd probably punch you.

we do seem to be far less likely to share religious conviction with other people (I for instance, in my adult life have never talked about religion to most of my friends, or politics for that matter. A couple I have, but that is rarely, and more a stated position and moving on to another subject, on the internet is where I argue it, not irl.)

I don't think this opinion is that rare, unfortunately. Other politicians (like Todd Akin) have made similar remarks. At least Romney had the sense to dissociate himself from the comments.
