Default FoS campaign as Aizu: fleeing units :/

    Hi there
I played a campaign as Aizu, "hard" difficulty settings.
Even when outnumbering my opponent, even when I had better troops, my army fled, and I lost my battles.
Is it because of the "hard" setting which has an effect on the morale of the troops maybe?
    Thanks for help

    Were you flanked?

    Were you under artillery bombardment?

    Did your general die?

Did you fail to Rally, Ganbette/Stand And Fight effectively?

Were your units less vetted than the opponent?

There are a lot of reasons your men might flee. Give us a few more details!

No, frontal assault, guns vs guns. Basic recruit for my enemies, White tiger for me. After a few volley, they fled.
They tried to flank me with cavalry, but managed to keep it busy with pikemen, so it cant be that.
Is the Hard setting somehow "harder" and makes my troops less competent?

If you were fighting levies, then something happened that you've not mentioned (Perhaps you were fighting up a hill, or they had a morale advantage?). If you were pitting White Tigers against Line Infantry...well, that will never end well.

as people mentioned, you probably neglect/overlooked something.

Hard mode doesnt give the AI stat advantages.

Also, get some cannon fodder units to toss into melee so their units cant fire upon you (any rifle units engaged in melee will stop firing and switch to melee). Just get those levy spears, sneak up on the enemy, charge into their ranks heedless of losses to your levies. While this is happening just have your rifle units fire on the enemy regardless of friendly casualties levies are easy to replace.

Thats the rough way though :x

hard gives the AI small advantages. But its possible you overlooked something. if one or two units rout, it can cause a cascade among your other troops.
