Default Does a Unit's Morale Affect Its Ability to Fight?

The manual just seems to say that morale affects whether units will keep fighting or try to cower off the battlefield, but there doesn't seem to be any mention, for instance, whether a unit with green morale will kill the enemy better than a unit with yellow morale. Is there anything like that going on with morale, or does it simply determine how willing a unit is to obey orders? Thanks!

Morale does not have any effect on how good a unit is at killing or defending. No speed boost, no charge boost etc etc.

What morale does is: The higher it is, the more likely the unit will keep fighting.

example: Yari ashigaru vs yari ashigaru, all stats is the same exept morale. unit A has 1 more morale than unit B.

Unit B will route before Unit A.

Effectily meaning that unit will keep fighting longer (whereas unit B would flee at 100 men left, unit A would flee at 90 men left.) They become harder to route. (note that this was a simple example, there's other factors that affect morale such as flanking units etc.)

Green vs yellow morale. Nothing special, the green part is just bonus morale the unit has gained through various means. Such as being recruited in a province with a upgraded holy shrine or having gained veteran ranks for example. Basically if the base morale of a unit is 7, this will be shown as yellow. The unit gain 2 veteran ranks and now has 10 morale, the 3 morale that was gained is shown as green.

You may be confusing morale with fatigue.
The coloured footprint icon above a units head is its fatigue level, which should affect various things including morale and speed etc.

As it stands I'm ptretty sure fatigue is totally broken in multiplayer and other than different coloured icons above a units head nothing changes at all (morale, speed etc) no matter how tired a unit is.

Wait, really? That makes walking pretty pointless. And anything with second wind.

It supposedly still affects morale in MP but it's almost impossible to tell.
    Everything else remains totally unnafected.

Your fresh troops will never be able to catch exhausted troops as it's broken and their speed is the same regardless of fatigue. If you do fight a fatigued unit they will fight just the same regardless of fatigue level.

My bad, I thought I was viewing the MP section.
