The road past York was hard and long, and after many arduous days of travel through the lowlands of Scotland, Louis finally reaches Edinburgh to meet with the King of Scotland on behalf of Alfred II.

Great king William of Scotland, I come from England with an offer from the good king Alfred. He wishes to put aside the differences that the Normans had with the scots, and restore the peace that the Saxons had with the Scottish kingdom.

Your Majesty, we attacked them because they disrespected good catholic traditions. My king wants to prove England's faithfulness by organising an alliance, and perhaps a marriage.
