Which is The Better RAM Combo?
Im my PC I currently have two 512mb PC3200 pieces working together in dual channel mode. I also have an extra 512mb PC2700 of a different make on my desk here. Should I leave it how it is with the two pieces working together totaling 1GB of PC3200 RAM or should I stick the extra piece in totaling my RAM to 1.5GB but the PC3200 will be clocked down to PC2700 and will not be able to work in dual channel mode?

If I were you I would stick with 1GB dual channel, the increase in RAM will not make up to the performence loss of running at lower speed in single channel.

Agreed, also keeping RAM in pairs is advisable because most RAM these days is designed to be used in pairs to maximize dual channel capabilities. Depending on which mainboard and processor you have, the 3rd dimm could screw up your memory timings as well.Originally Posted by Proximus

Or do what I did, go for extreme overkill, 4 gig sticks.
