Default Free peoples of Eriador finances?

Generally when I play as the Northmen I find myself stuck in a quite deep financial hole. which is surprising with the amount of pipe-weed and other valuable resources scattered around my lands. The basic situation is that Eriador starts off with quite a bit low-populated settlements that don't generate much income and even affording buildings every once in a while can be quite tricky. Also since sustaining a large army is pretty much impossible I find myself being cut out of prospect of future conquest, since I am forced to spread out my few forces about my settlements to prevent revolts. Now I don't aim this thread to be a rant or anything else like that, because I can see that Eriador could be hugely OP if I could just raise tens and tens of Dunedain rangers and kill every army coming at me before they even get a chance. I just want to know how can I climb out of this financial situation (trade relations with Gondor and Rohan didn't help much btw.)

To the west of you lie the elven settlements with their potential sea trade routes. The elves more or less are pretty much boned when up against another (cheaper) shooter army as their troops don't have much armor to speak about.

To the East of you lies the Misty mountains with still untapped mines. The orcs are pretty much boned however you choose to slice them.

You need to manage for growth and make good choices about what wars you have and what you build.
Set all settlements to low tax rate to encourage growth and remove units from ones not on enemy border. you must not have low tax rate when something is on last turn to build though or else bad trait.
There are some great guides around to managing economy in these forums, just search.
On one game I found I had so much money I got bad traits for all my governors; have to keep treasury below 50,000.
These observations have all been playing vanilla H/H. Now playing MOS on VH/VH and similar experiences so far on managing economy.

I think it's pretty easy to have good economy with Eriador. It takes a long time before you need any more units than what you have already, because nobody is at war with Eriador at start. Amon Sul can build Paved Roads, which is a good source of income, and Annuminas and Bree both have many economical buildings to build. Eriador's units are cheap, too (your main unit is Breeland Militia, upkeep 160), so it should be pretty easy to hold economy.

What i do is that i have all villages on low tax rate and towns on med tax rate ect. Annuminas always kept on low!!
I play with MOS, so early in the game i make an alliance with Dunland and the sourrounding nations except the orcs. They wont agree to an alliance. But it keeps the war on mostly one front.
You dont have to expand crazy in the start. I expand towards the sea and unto Dunland at the start. Then i turn my armies north so i can defend from the orc attacks. If you let the orcs attack your cities and defeat them there you will need a much smaller army. Make sure you allways build trade and growth buildings whenever you have the change!

Well my strategy would be taxes on low and rush the rebel settlements. After this (ab)use your crazely effective general units vs the orcs. Make alliance with the dwarves as they love to backstab. This is ofcourse if you like to keep lore-friendly relations. The AI usually does a bad job commanding archers (starting in thight formation, aiming at wrong units, no defense vs cav, ...). So attacking the Elves should be easy.

Never thought of going against the lore to be honest.... A possibility I suppose I think this thread can be considered closed, for now I have somehow conquered Isengard and with that mining income my economy is slowly going up. Thanks for replying everyone!
