No disrespect, gents. Yet in the words of the Gnaeus Pompei Magnus: "You are cooking rabbits that had not yet been caught." Just a bit early to plan the mods for a game in closed alpha(if that), yes? Have some faith/trust/something in the CA

My point merely was that it was too early to plan mods for a game we know nothing about (well... almost nothing, we do know it's pretty and it has Carthage). Nothing was said by me about potential modability.

In terms of preliminary research, I thiought everything that is to be done in this area was covered already in Roma Surrectum 2 and others? Redoing all the work seems... wasteful?

Umm, isn't it a bit silly to start a mod this early?

To be fair they had seen those history channel shows that used the Rome battles in them. They knew it was gonna be inaccurate.

I've spotted some "inaccuracies" of the units already (some would consider it accurate, but they are not right). And the pace at which those units can run at seems rather insane, especially considering the order of their formation while doing it! Further considering that these armies were only militia. I saw the Carthaginians keeping their formation at a sprint fairly well too.

On the other side though, the game looks AMAZING! Really looking forward to the navy battles

No, RTW were restricted by faction and settlement limit. So they had to sacrifice factions and accurate provinces. Also merge cultures and lore
and many combat animation restrictions. In this Rome 2 there is no faction or provincal limit so we can with this version greatly extend historical accuracy and have better culture influence than previous games. This is why we're researching now from scrap bottom to make a enjoyable great mod for everyone. Of course we wont determine how settlements and system will work now when rome 2 isnt released. The best we can do is to begin research every iota of details and thus spares us the amount time of research needed to be done when r2tw is out.

So everything in this area are far from covered in older mods

Thats what e.g. the team of Europa Barbaorum did with Rome I. I wonder when they will finish EB II. But if they would release EB II in 2013, it would be interesting to see, which one is the better game. Of course Rome II will look better. But ...
