Just sent a message to Jack Lusted regarding this:

Hi there Jack, not sure if you answer your PM's (probably get spammed a lot), but I thought I would give this a go anyway.

You might remember me on the exclusive content discussions, how I have been asking a few questions regarding the technical side of the way units work.

The reason I have been doing this is because me and some friends are planning a mod for your Rome 2, and I would greatly appreciate it if maybe you guys down at CA could share some of this technical details with us, just so we get a feint idea of what our boundaries might be, modding wise.

I know that campaign aspects cannot be released at this time, but I would just like to ask for any information that can be shared with us at this time.

I know the chances of this are slim given the earliness of your game project, but I would love to get a reply.

If it is too early to be giving out this information to us, when do you think would be a relevant time down the track for this?

Thanks for your time in reading this, and we all hope you consider,

Regards, Darcy and the RRP team.
    Now I pray

Oh, a mod before the game is released...

This is going to go about as well as all those mods that were planned for Empire, I assume...

I mean, yeah, it's great that you guys are excited and all, but the game isn't going to come out for about another year. A lot of things can happen in a year, guys.

    Good luck anyway, though.

@ Semper_Fidelis - Indeed, some of us are working very hard (me to my limits, and chosen man is doing what he can in his limited spare time, just to name the senior members), but unfortunately not all of our team is showing a satisfactory amount of activity and work ethic, although I do understand that lives get busy. I have been trying to keep asking questions to Jack Lusted regarding some of the technical sides of the engine, and have been given some in-depth answers, which is great! and more than I expected. Hopefully I can someone get connected with a representative from CA and they can help me out/we can talk, but this will be hard, because I doubt much of them would check their VMs or PMs (because of spam and all)

@ ♘Top Hat Zebra - It has already been stated that we are merely going the historical research for our mod, and coming up with concepts for the game mechanics. Nothing is cement at the moment, and we will figure out how to implement our ideas and research when the information becomes available from CA.

Thanks to people showing interest, and +rep to those showing special interest

Im pretty sure EB was started before RTW was released. Good luck though, regardless. Allthough I do hope RTW2 will be so awesome that it will not even need to be modded.

Wish you the best for this promising project.

First question : did you change the mod website colour to be in accord to the talk of darker total war and visceral combat ?

Not really, its just that the white didn't quite go, and I think the current color is much better until I get the actual website up

    So it is just temporally.
Well the website is already good. So I'm impatient to see it done ... along with the mod ... ..... and maybe even the vanilla game.

That would be "Imperia Antiquitatis". I suppose, it being latin, you could reverse the word order to "Antiquitatis Imperia", but considering the tendency for people to use abbreviations for mods, in conjunction with CA's perceived programming skills that's probably not recommended.

scrappy translation on my behalf. Thanks for spotting it out anyways. Would you be able to do some more translations for me?

And about the dark website colour; it was party inspired by CAs mention of a darker, more visceral side of war, but also because we like the colours

Maybe. My Latin is rather patchy though. It's been a long time since I did any translating, and that's most from Latin, not into Latin. But you can always ask for an opinion

apart from being technically good with pc (building rarther than programming etc) I studied ancient history and my dissertation was on the roman army. also studied latin A level which is rusty and am good with languages...

I have access to a uni library (royal holloway GB) so perhaps can offer my services in terms of research. no worries if you are ok on that score...

Thats great, we could defiantly use the help, il invite you to the twcenter group, and if you pm me your steam name il invite you to the steam group as well

EDIT I'm afraid that you will have to wait until Splenyi gets on, because I can't invite people to the group

    2. How will you handle units that are too expensive for minor factions to afford in history, but those minor factions eventually get rich after years of expansion in the game? In other words, what is the plan on things that are historical possibilities but did not happen? (e.g. Antioch III won his war against the Roman and united Macedon, Athens & Sparta under 1 banner? What units can he raised from Athens then?) (example 2: If German tribes reached the Black Sea, what fleets can they raise?)
    1. It depends on how long the battles are in vanilla, but we are trying to make our game-play mechanics as accurate as possible, so hopefully that will correspond to good battle lengths. With the engine I don't think it will be possible to recreate the pauses that normally happened in ancient battles. You also probably don't want to spend 8 hours fighting one battle lol.

    2. We are not to sure about that yet, however (using your Spartan/Athenian example) you would probably be able to raise normal Spartan and Athenian troops. As for you Germanic tribes example, i'm not really sure yet because if they encountered Rome, though wouldn't have be able to raise legionary, but they certainly would have taken there stuff if they found it. If they encountered other barbarians, they would also certainly have taken there weapons and stuff, but probably would have retained there traditional style of warfare.

At least there is an interest to mod Rome II, warscape before the assemble kit did a number on the modding community.

Indeed, compare the medieval 2 mods to the empire, shogun and Napoleon. Fairly huge difference in overhauls

Never have I ever seen a mod that is announced before the game comes out. I wish you good luck.
