Will your allies stay with you when realm divide occurs?
Will your allies stay with you when realm divide occurs?
at the beginning yes. but they also get a realm divide diplomatic penalty, so eventually they will declare war on you. you can postpone this by giving them cash, but the further into realm divide the smaller the effect the same amount will have
Reguraly take a look at the diplomacy screen. if the relation status has dropped from friendly to "indifferent", the declaration of war wont be long.
Also how long will this realm divide last?
For Shogun 2, your allies will reject you without an extreme amount of finaegling, bribery and general diplomatic shenanigans. This can be avoided by allowing an area you control to rebel, leave your empire, then re-subjugating it and making it a vassal. The newly created vassal will not have the realm divide penalty and can be safely traded with.
For Rise of the Samurai, the above will still occur. Even with clans that are 100% your allegiance, they will reject you. I honestly don't see the point in using the allegiance system in ROTS of the samurai as a result. Just play it like you're a christian clan in Shogun 2.
In Fall of the Samurai, because there are two realm divides, things are a bit more complicated. If you go for Imperial/Shogunate Vanguard, your existing allies will not only stay, but they will fall in line behind you. Making new allies is tricky though, since opposing sides will hate your guts irrevocably, and you can never be sure what side a manufactured clan was originally. If you go republic...things are even worse than Shogun 2 and Rise of the Samurai. Since you're independent, you will never be able to spawn a vassal that will like you. You will always have the realm divide and different-allegiance penalty. Gotta go it alone.
(I'm not sure if the vassal trick still works, but I think it does.)
The rest of the game. Once it tics, there's no going back.
Would it be possible to make peace with the clans?

It's doable, but virtually impossible to sustain. The malus from realm divide is massive.
So there is no way to diable it.Stupid, makes me hate the game.
So after about 100 turns I've managed to whittle down the Ito clan to 12 provinces and my long time allies are down to 4 provinces. I currently own 52 provinces. Realm divide is possible to survive.
In order to survive realm divide, you should have a good economy and control of half the map before you trigger it. To get control of half the map without triggering realm divide just let rebels take control of any city that would put you past your limit. Once real divide triggers first priority should be to take those rebel cities and then you should have few fronts to defend.
For my economy I play the long game, using my farms as town growth. I try to have all my farms fully upgraded before I trigger realm divide.
Try Radious diplomacy mod V7 where RD has only a max -80 hit on diplomacy unlike -180 or -200 IIRC in vanilla. With that you will be able to hold on to alliances even after RD, which makes for a more balanced gameplay and you will be able to play better on harder difficulties.

Why would you go to Steam when this is the home of all major mods for the TW series, Radious mods being one of that. Here you go: Radious diplomacy mods

Maybe this is not the right place to put/ask it but when does the realm divide or campaign actually ends? when the opposite side is completely gone? or when you conquer whole off Japan?
Because i am with the Emperor side (playing Saga) and i have like 5 allies atm (Satsuma, Matsue, Okayama, Okazaki and Tokushima) also all Emperor and we destroyed all the Shogunate so is it over now or must i backstap my allies and take over Japan or something lol?
cheers
im pretty sure it will affect RD. it would also make sense: you need less provinces to win, so less provinces needed to trigger realm divide.
however i cant confirm, i never play short campaigns.
and related: does really nobody knows of a mod that alters realm divide like i described it in another thread? where RD isnt removed, but your biggest allies will stick with you without paying them a whole castle every turn (so a bit like FotS) realm divide
mods that i encounter either remoe RD, or alter it together with a bunch of other stuff
