In my experience, mortars are rarely accurate enough to stop a wave of siege engines without bumping up the accuracy, even if there's two of them.
The number of ladders, siege towers, and rams that are directed at you in a full stack of predominantly infantry is just overwhelming, especially if the units carrying the ladders are one of the fast moving ones.

Oh I realized my mistake especially when I lost my city almost. I had not played the new version, now it is no longer possible. about a year ago it was still possible (with the Dwarfs) because the Ai had problems stand still in battle. Nice Mod

I still found that sieges are a little easy on a multi-level city. How do I know if I have the right patch?
