    Default Which Mod For Realism?

I've tried playing Darthmod but all the enemy armies I am encountering are all top-drawer stuff- armies comprised of all Katana Samurai, yari samurai. No Ashigaru at all. A tad unrealistic.

Any suggestions so I'm not fighting stacks of warrior monks?

    Sekigahara!

    It's realistic!

Well, to a point. I note that while the Sekigahara mod balances the units so that armies are very ashigaru heavy (which is good), there are still certain anomalies like sword ashigaru, cavalry monks, half-bow samurai, warrior nuns and some others which are historically iffy.

Basically coz those are vanilla units, Akaie, the maker of the mod, is still hesitant in removing such units.

But hey look on the bright side, whos the only overhaul mod for Shogun 2 that is in constant angst that we cant have historically correct Ii Naomasa and Fukushima Masanori and more importantly Toyotomi Hideyoshi kabutos? Yup we do. Meanwhile the rest can go brag about super huge armies or mounted ninjas and hundred or so new units like mounted ashigaru.

We will always held dear to our core principles.

    - Awesome kabuto.
    - Headaches with the Hatakeyama province divisions.
    - Obsession with jidaigeki media.
    - bigger horos and sashimonos.

Seriously. Click it. Its the only overhaul mod that's overhauling enough to bring out NEW clans

Despite what the other mods claim, they don't really add more historical accuracy. They're fun, yes, and I use Radious mods all the time, but Seki is certainly far more accurate than other mods.

Certainly true, when comparing the whole Sekigahara mod with the whole Radious package. What I love and adore about Radious' mods, however, is that most features are available as individual mods (and often in several variants), so you can pick and choose features any way you like.

I did shy away from the units, though - the only unit I wanted was the spear levy for RotS, and I want to not have the rest of the extra units. I always did wonder why the common spear (specifically the hoko yari, which had a socket, not a tang) was present in the naval battles of RotS, but not on land. It was far more common than the naginata, which seems to have appeared at the very end of Heian. If I could but have that one extra unit, the spear levy, I would be very happy.

Most of them certainly are, but the sword ashigaru aren't vanilla, and I don't think the cavalry monks are either. Definitely not the naginata ashigaru.

    - bigger horos and sashimonos.
Is there a mod which assigns the horo to only one or two of the bodyguards? For a whole outfit to be dressed up with matching horos seems a bit... spammy

I like to think most of us team members where jidaigeki fans to begin with or familiar with the era. Hence how the mod shaped up to be.

(or maybe it was just me finding alternative ways to have all Sengoku basara characters exist in the Shogun 2 sphere. )

Actually.....we seem to have a habit of loving overly awesome stuff attached to the backs of samurai, aside from outrageous stuff they put on their heads

But there are some major clans who get to have better looking sashimono for their hatamoto, 3d ones infact, like warfans (since we cant have Uma Jirushi with a warfan, fine attach it to every hatamoto's back), wings (maeda general's bodyguard), and some others though wait for the update.

Set to be released in the 412th Anniversary of the Sekigahara no Tatakai.

That sounds great! Because for every single bodyguard of every single general of every single clan to go to the same horo-maker is definitely spammy. Variation is very welcome.

Hopefully we can up the ante, by making different sashimono present in one single unit, some gets elaborate 3d ones, other gets slight variation of the overarching theme of the clan mon and heroes and significantly important units get way different ones in color. Like maybe an Ii Naomasa unit inside the Tokugawa army. But thats too far off.

For now, wings for Maeda Hatamoto, fans for Tokugawa hatamoto, and gourd looking devices for Toyotomi.

    Oh and for Oda..

Dear Erwin, now with the mod tools and all that fuzz, are you looking into changing the horse models a bit so they aren't huge dragons and are more like feudal japan horses?
