Lucius Horatius Tiberinus arrives to meet with Tiberius. Along with him was his daughter, the shy yet beautiful Livia 'the Younger'.

They are brought within and separated from the plebeians in the house. After some time, Tiberius enters the garden, ready to entertain his guests.
Welcome, Lucius, isn't it?
Tiberius maintained a professional tone of voice
Your confidence is inspiring, Marcus, but perhaps a bit premature. Not all the tribes have voted and I'm afraid I've called in all my favors. Tribune, you say? It is then perhaps a bit awkward to see you here...
Lucius smiles as he was welcomed into his future colleague's home. His daughter remains off to the side, silent as ever as the Roman nods.
Greetings, Tiberius. It is an honor to meet what I hope to be my colleague in the Consulship this term.
He gestures to his daughter.
This is my daughter, Livia 'the Younger'.
Livia, being put on the spot, quickly shows respect to Tiberius by bowing her head. Lucius looks to Tiberius.
Forgive her shyness, fellow Roman. She is like my wife when Livia was her age, according to my mother-in-law.

"I like to think I can judge the mood of the tribes fairly well. But we shall see. In fact, I came to offer you my support, if you can believe such a thing. The patricians want to have complete control of Rome; the plebs want them to not have it. Personally I am... an opportunist. Tribune--"
Licinius pointed to himself, then Tiberius.
"--Consul. A comically unlikely alliance, but a powerful one, wouldn't you agree?"

Lucius has ten years, but his health is consistently poor. I can agree to this betrothal, but time will only tell if the gods are merciful enough to see fruit borne of this arrangement. It is important for the leading men of state to affirm between them bonds of friendship.
Indeed, it could prove to be mutually beneficial. At the very least it could save me the trouble of having to deal with the masses directly. What do you ask of me?
Tiberius clasped his hands behind his back.
It is proper for a Roman woman to remain silent in the presence of her superiors, but noble in spirit and virtue.
Lucius nods quietly before speaking further.
I have come on business...not only involving the future of Rome, which we will decide as Consuls it seems. But also to offer an alliance between our two houses, Tiberius.
He gestures to his daughter.
I would like to offer my daughter's hand as a bride to be betrothed to one of your noble sons, Tiberius. In this time and era, Patricians must stand firm against those who would undermine our authority...particular those unworthy Plebs.

Now, about the Volsci. We must be careful in our decisions, as the smallest escalation could launch us into a war that could span more than just a season. What are your intentions?
Strike their raiding forces hard enough that they are broken before moving into their territory. I will mostly aim at taking away crops from their harvest and burning lands...perhaps even disrupting trade...leaving the message imprinted in their minds. But also to our advantage in the end.
Lucius ponders some.
When the autumn and winter seasons arrive, we will have plenty of food. While their people will be starving. This will prove worthy to our cause if they decide to strike again...for then all out war with the Volscii will prove favorable since they intend to steal from us once again and not learn from the last lesson we tried to make them realize. This can possibly bring in more territory for the Republic...which it will need.

That is a good plan. I shall maintain order in Rome in the meantime.
I agree. Rome needs to gain more territory in Latium...thankfully it is divided since the days of the Latin League. If we can unite the tribes and cities of Latium, we stand a good chance of becoming a major power.

Yes, much remains to be seen. Perhaps I should consult the gods and determine the right path forward.
I believe that would be best, Tiberius. We need to see what the gods believe is right for Rome. Where the sword must strike our foes and where the shield must hold against our neighbors. Rome must be strong...and it must become stronger. We are the children of Romulus and we must continue his dream.

Publius Valens strolls by and turns suddenly and notices he's at the villa of the Consul Mamercus.. He walks up to the door and knocks, hearing slaves movement inside. He looks into an open window nearby very inconspicuously
When the doors are thrust open he sees a scene common of the salutatio. A line of plebs wait to speak to Tiberius, who is seated at a table. He is currently talking to a man making wild gesticulations. After some time, Tiberius counted out several silver coins and dropped them into a pouch, handing them to the man. After waiting in line for almost an hour, Publius reached the front of the line.
"What can I do for you?"
