I'll only listen to Free Bird and Sweet Home Alabama, rather not see them live.

Though I've heard they're good live.

Dude, Simple Man is one of the most beautiful songs ever. IDK how they song after that unfotunate plane crash, but they are easily one of my favorite bands of all time. How do you not love songs like That Smell and Gimme Three Steps? Pure genius IMO.

I like Neal Young. I'd like everyone to know that both had a healthy degree of respect for each other.

Great band. Tuesday's gone is the ultimate driving home song ever written, and Freebird is probably one of the best rock songs ever written.

The title of this thread is slightly misleading though. How can Skynyrd be immortal, when they are all quite obviously quite dead?

Immortal? NO, a plane crash disproved that theory quite nicely, has some great songs though. Freebird in particular, the guitar on that song is spectacular.

Well, it could be argued that the spirit of the band lives on in the recordings already available. Like I said in my other drunken post, most of their songs are lyrically very touching, while having just enough of a Rock influence to get the message across properly to boneheads like me. Great music all around, and even better for the polite jab at Neal Young in "Sweet Home Alabama".

I still recomend "Simple Man" as their best song and one of the best of all time though. If you haven't heard it yet check it out.

    Simple Man is simply great.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, I do believe, have the most spaces on my iPod. If you liked "Simple Man", how about "Was I Right or Wrong". Another real good song. There's "Ballad of Curtis Leow" about a kid, presumably one of them, befriending an elderly black man that loved to play music drunk. "That Smell" is a really good Rock-Crunk song lol.

"Cry For the Bad Man", "Needle and the Spoon" (Does have it anything to do with the Neil Young song of the similar name?) and of course "Freebird" is an awesome driving song I think. "Tuesday's Gone" is a lot like Freebird in a lot of respects.

Lynyrd Skynyrd should be immortalized, they deserve it, they've proven they're not just a Allman Brothers imitation or spin-off.

Phew, that was good to get off my chest. Oh yeah, I like 'em.
