Quick question, guys:

If I want to use the "add_money" cheat to add funds to the Republic Of Novgorod faction, what string of characters do I add after "add_money" to specify the faction? I've tried a bunch of different variations of Novgorod, Republic of Novgorod, Republic Of Novgorod, with or without spaces, underlines, etc... keep getting "err: faction not recognized"

What is the secret password?

I dont know all the cheats, but im pretty sure you cant fund AI factions with a straight away cheat like that(im guessing you are not Novgorod yourself). Simply add the money to yourself and give it to them via diplomacy.

Hmm. Good question. I've heard about this elsewhere, but I don't know the truth of it. It really makes one not want to use that cheat at all if its going to help every other faction on the map!

Anyone have a definitive answer to this? I'd also like to know!

It's because Novgorod is actually called Russia by the game behind-the-scenes

So use: add_money Russia 25000
Might have to seperate the faction and amount by a comma some times. I.e: add_money Russia, 25000

I think what he is saying is that he is Novgorod and he thinks that the 'add_money' cheat gives the respective amount of gold to every faction and he wants to know how to be the only one to benefit from the cheat; but don't worry, Sarge, just type 'add_money' and you'll be the only faction that gets the extra gold. Don't cheat though ... the game is easy already, and cheats also spoil the fun .

Agreed. If you're on the brink of destruction I can see the appeal of cheating, but then again, if you're down to one last settlement you've probably brought extermination on to yourself!

The bad thing about cheating is doing it once just isn't enough. If you're 'add_money' cheating to construct new expensive buildings that's one thing, but doing it to recruit new troops is another. Because those troops still need to be paid for with upkeep every turn, encouraging one to continue cheating over and over to support the ridiculous large force they've created to maintain their empire. Not good.

Play the game normally! It's better that way.

I dont think it gives money to every faction. Proof? I was in a diplomacy sceen and gave money using "add_money 40000" but the faction i was dealing with didnt get an increase in their money rating.

to answer your question simply

add_money 5000 will only give you, the player that much money. you can only give it at a max of 40000 each time.

if you want to take it away simply do

add_money -5000

as for names of specific factions, youll have to look them up in the data folder. i dont remember them.

as far as cheating being evil, well i do it all the time to test out my games. dont have time to sit through all those slow turns to test a single thing i changed
