Whats your view on this? Its a smart move by AMD now that intel has got their winning CD2 CPU's out, Though i feel dissapointed because i was a Nvidia/AMD fan ( i know its silly) aslong as Nvidia remains independante im fine

Yeah, I hope this doesn't effect the way AMD/NVidia equipment works together...

I want a new graphics chip maker. damn it. When things merge, I always think of -more expensive-

I just hope they won't try to raise price on the ATI stuff, because then they truly can forget about me.

I hope AMD is not trying to pull a microsoft on us. and charge whatever money they want for their stuff.

AMD says they wont be using their fabs on producing ATI units because they will focus their CPU production at maximum capacity. ATI's production partners wont be affected. So all in all they still be producing CPU/VPU seperatly. So prices could still be at the same level as now.

I have heard that before about many things, that now, cost far more than cost before.

Interesting. So does this mean Intel will buy Nvidia?

Intel is so huge that it is pointless to buy Nvidia, And as the Nvidia represantive (derek perez) put it in the interview,

"this leaves us as the only GPU and platform company that will be able to support both AMD and Intel"

Not that ATI will not support anything but it sounds like Nvidia will be a independant company, atleast for now.

Yes it seems that in the future ATIs will only support, or at least work better with AMDs. But is this necessarily a bad thing? If it means improved ATI performance with and AMD, then im all for it.
