Default Mental Fight - Neville and Atticus

~Continued RP from the office thread~

At the beginning of his fifth year, Atticus knew that his lessons with Neville would commence. Having dabbled in the arts of mind reading, or invasion, he felt excited to hone his skills. He approached the office door and knocked twice.

William opened the door to allow the young Mr. Prince into his office. Atticus is shown to his seat before William began questioning Atticus's academics, he was interested and wanted to make sure that he wouldn't fall behind before they begin the first lesson
Good evening atticus, I trust your studies are going well?

Atticus entered the room in a rush of black robes, he had grown quite a bit over the summer.

As good as always, professor. Herbology has been a bit bland, but I suppose that's to be expected. OWLs this year might prove to be more challenging, but we will have to see.

    Atticus nodded

Yes, occlumnecy and legillimency. Abstract magic seems a bit more unpredictable. Should we perhaps set down some ground rules? Anything could happen, I might be unable to control where I end up in your mind. You should attempt to protect anything you don't want me seeing.

The creation of rules is moot, I we are going through with this we must do it right.
    William spoke sternly
Nothing is off limits, you must try to get into the deepest parts of my memory otherwise you are not fully learning and niether am I. But be warned Mr. Prince, I have seen true horrors in my past with plenty of death and violence brought on from the days of the dark lord

Atticus' interest piqued. Maybe he could learn some useful bits of information...

Very well, professor. Shall I go first?

ooc: We can do it in turns, and write eachother's account of the event. For example, I'll cast the spell and then you will write what Atticus saw as he explored your mind and vice versa.

Leveling his wand at the defenseless professor, Atticus had a strange sense of foreboding. In spite of this he took a step forward and repeated the incantation "Legillimens!"

He at once entered a state of only semi-consciousness as he focused on entering the inner thoughts of William.

William walked towards this large leather arm chair behind his desk. He was intending on sitting during the process and tried to make himself comfortable, before him on the table was a sauser beneath an empty tea cup. Twas 10:30 in the morning still and William had not eaten, his stomach grumbling he scavenges his desk for some to eat. there it was a semi stale half eaten muffin left over from yesturdays breakfast one could only imagine Williams joy. William waved his wand over the empty tea cup chanting some latin verse so that the cup would fill with tea, he would offcourse have to add the sugar and milk. As William begins his feast he is unaware that Atticus has already attempted to enter his mind.

Atticus finds ihimself within a grassy field surrounded by a tall mountain range, it would seem to be somewhere in the highlands of northern scotland. Within the distance a young boy no older than 8 emerges with his younger sister and brother enjoying the scenic adventures of childhood during their yearly the family camping trips in the forests of Inverness. Though this adventure one of many that have come to pass was special in that it was the first time William used magic, twas nothing spectacular but was still beautiful. William had managed to transform a few floating leaves into a family of singing canaries hyming a beautiful tune.

Atticus jumped from William's youth to his teenage years at hogwarts, it was his fifth year and William was preparing for the upcoming OWLs. William as per his usual schedule was studying alone in the library though this memory was slightly different. today was the day William met Christine Underhill a young scottish lass from the northern highlands with fiery red hair and sparkling blue eyes, she was easily the prettiest girl in the school. Christine came over to William's desk embracing her books towards her chest. The library was empty and there were plenty of seats, though he brushed it off and continued to read his textbook. until today William could never comprehend the events that were to pass. It was starting to get late both William and Christine had been in the library for a few hours, christine pulls her chair closer to William and gently places her soft hands over William's. William frozen from fear and anixiety stay still as christine places down his book and goes for his first kiss. That day William had met the girl of his dreams and his future wife.

The mind jumps close to the previous encounter. Christine William's girlfriend now was sitting with him on the bleachers watching a quidditich match Gryfrindor versus Ravenclaw. it was one of many of their dates, though nothing special to note

Atticus was trying to go deeper into the mind of the professor, perhaps the battle of hogwarts? William was keen on protecting those memories, he had buried deep in the back of his mind and would try to divert attitcus everytime he would try to come closer. though attitcus was persistant in gaining the memories as he attempted to dig deeper his focus began to dwindle until he had lost connection

Atticus staggered backwards. It had been much easier penetrating a willing mind, but he had still encountered resistance along some lanes. It felt as if William was more or less directing him in certain areas. For now he was too scared to deviate from those routes. Sweat plastered his hair to his face.

    That was...good.

William's attack revealed a single scene of incredible clarity. Atticus was huddled around a group of younger students and appeared to be branding them with an odd shape, They winced in pain as the image was seared into their skin. Once this was complete, Atticus turned his wand on himself, and burned the mark into his arm. It was a rather disturbing thing to see, in light of the history of such marks.

A cringe travelled down Williams spine as visions of the dark lord came back to his mind. William was disappointed within Atticus in participating in such Tom foolery and hoped it was only that. William attempted to go deeper into the mind and access the deepest and darkest secrets of this young boy
