Danger at the Eyrie

Lord Gawin Corbray, Lord of Heart's Home, rides for the Eyrie with all possible haste. At his back is a quite large army, composed of the Corbray levies and professionals both. Lord Gawin and his personal retinue split off from the main force, and ride the last miles to the Eyrie with great speed. As they arrive at the Gates of the Moon, the shady Lord asks for an audience with his liege lord. Though he would be prepared to surrender his weapons, a few small blades were concealed in his clothes, and in the clothes of all fifty knights of his retinue as well.

As Lord Corbray climbs up the great mountain, his army begins assembling at the foot of the Lance. Leading them is Syl Corbray, Gawin's heir.

Gawin enters the great hall at the Eyrie, with him his 50 men. He takes the time to catch his breath, as Lord Arryn has not yet taken his seat.

What brings you to the eyrie, lord Corbray?

"I have urgent business with you, My Lord. It's about my son and heir, Syl. But it is best spoken of just between the two of us. It is a... sensitive affair." The Corbray guards stood next to the Arryn guards, as they had trained.

Lord Corbray looked at his Captain of guards, nodded and walked to the solar with his liege lord. When they were both inside, Lord Corbray noted to his approval the door was heavy wood, supressing sounds. As Lord Arryn walked to his own seat, Lord Corbray drew his dagger from a hidden pocket in his sleeve.

Assassination attempt. +3 skill, +3 dagger.

Lord Arryn is surprised by the action as he turns to see the dagger, but has no time to call out before it pierces his throat.

Lord Corbray sat the body down in a corner of the solar, closing his Lord's eyes in a sign of respect. He opened the door slightly, to see if a guard were posted at the door.

The guard was oblivious to anything that had happened, and was watching for any threats that may come in, not go out.

Lord Corbray decided to dispose of the guard silently, making sure he slid a hand over the guard's mouth as he opened the throat of the man lengthwise. He dragged the guard into the solar as well, silently closed the door and walked to the great hall like nothing had happened.

The presence of lord Arryn is unnoticed, as he often had a bad but in his elderly years. The guards were lax, and if there was any time to stage a coup, it would be now.

The Corbray men all bared their daggers, and within five seconds the Lord had walked into the hall, Corbray men were all at the throats of the Arryn guards. The Arryn men were unprepared, and many fell quickly. The Corbray men seized the weapons the Arryn guards had been holding, and the last Arryn guards quickly dropped their weapons. They were surrendering. Though they were but five men, Lord Corbray knew they could be very useful. He walked up to one, demanding to know where the heir was. The Corbray captain was holding a spear at the poor man's throat.

Away from the castle... Damn the Seven, Gawin thought. Could he have ended the male Arryn line quickly, it would have been far easier to assume control. "And a daughter of the Lord? An unmarried one," There was a cold edge at Gawin's voice, the sound of cruelty and supressed anger.

The Lord turned around and started walking to the stairs. "Captain, you and thirty men with me. Twenty stay here and protect our new friends here. Uren, you will command the twenty remaining." As the men formed up, Gawin walked up the stairs. So far, everything had gone as planned. As he reached the upper quarters, he saw four doors. He chose the first on the left, signalling the men to hide and be quiet.

The doors swung open to reveal Lady Arryn sewing.
Why whatever is the matter Lord Corbray?

Lord Corbray nodded at his men, who came forward and secured the room. "My Lady. It grieves me to be forced to do this, but i will have to detain you here. No harm will come to you, or your daughters, as long as you keep quiet." Lord Corbray indicated five men should stand guard, and took the remaining with him. Next up was the room right across this one.
