    Default Third Age won't start

    Hiho,

I've been trying to get twta to work for a while now and since I haven't made any progress I thought I'd ask you guys for help.

I purchased medieval 2 and kingdoms via Steam and installed 3.2 as per instructions (renaming to americas ect...) I did not install any of the previous versions as it said 3.2 was a stand alone patch.

Now, when I try to start the game I get a brief (about half a second) glimpse of the third age loading screen and then a ctd.

I've tried running it as administrator but that didn't help.

I don't know if this is related, but although medieval 2 and kingdoms both run without problems, the launcher never closes. It's not visible, but the process is still running and has to be manually terminated after quitting the game.

Thanks in advance for any solutions you may be able to provide

PS: Sorry if my English isn't perfect, I'm not a native speaker.

Never mind, just read in another thread that you need to install part 1 and 2 also. But if the download instructions page says

    "Requirements:
    - TATW 3.2 is a stand-alone version and does not require any existing installations of TATW!",

that's pretty much the opposite of "you need to install part 1 and 2 first"

Oh well I hope this resolves itself after the installation.

Well, that is supposed to mean that it doesn`t need TATW 1.x or TATW 2.x versions, only TATW 3.x

And Baron Samedi submod is actually for TATW 3.1 version, so it will keep crashing until you perhapse make a dual TATW installation (check here how http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...2#post11170662)
BUT INSTALL THAT DUAL INSTALLATION UP TO 3.1 patch ONLY if you want to play Baron`s submod ( even though, that submod is a lit bit buggy)

Try deleting these two files in the Third age data folder:

    descr_georgraphy_new data base file
    descr_georgraphy_new text document

And turn off the summer time/daylight savings in your clocks settings
By some reason TATW can't handle summer time

Hi there and welcome to TWC Forums!

Probably a wrong installation path for one of the Installers..

Go here ( LINK ), it is a thread with images for proper installation, and do these steps which are explained:

    1. If you have Windows Vista, Windows 7 or 8, then: Edit Security for your main M2TW folder, unhide hidden folders, check VirtualStore and delete M2TW folder if you have it there!

If you have Windows XP, then just procced with the next steps bellow..

    2. Delete manually Third_Age_3 folder from your main ../M2TW/ mods folder.

    3. Install ALL Four TATW Installers, they all have to go to the same Medieval II Total War folder ( Installation paths have to be the same and they have to be pointed to the location of your main M2TW folder, and, all have to have this ending: .../Medieval II Total War )

    4. For battle crashes:

Disable daylight saving settings, if you have Windows 7, 8 or Vista, go to Control Panel, Clock, Date and Time, Change the time zone, Change time zone, uncheck `Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Savings time`. Apply and OK.

If you have Windows XP, simply double click the “clock” time display in the lower right of the windows task bar. In the “Date and Time Properties” dialog box click on the “Time Zone” tab. Below the map uncheck the box labeled “Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving time.” Apply and OK.
