    Default Slow City Growth

I am playing Early Scotland, and Aberdeen is VERY slow-growing. I've built everything except for a Ballista Maker, and it's still only a Town in 1143 AD! I conquered Dublin in 1120 and it already grew past Aberdeen to a Large Town, with a 20 year head start! I had Dublin's taxes at Normal (maybe Low) most of the time, and Aberdeen at High. Is that the problem? It's had at least 2% growth since 1100 AD. Someone please help!

Yes taxes decrease the population growth and high taxes never really bring much growth. You should also have a look at the attributes of the city governor, chivalry and certain other traits help population growth while others decrease it.
But it is also true that Aberdeen has a slow growth in the game compared to other cities. Give them some sheeps
"Pompeius, after having finished the war against Mithridates, when he went to call at the house of Poseidonios, the famous teacher of philosophy, forbade the lictor to knock at the door, as was the usual custom, and he, to whom both the eastern and the western world had yielded submission, ordered the fasces to be lowered before the door of science."

Human player has a decrease in population growth, later in the game you may find yourself cheating only to build your own citadels, it is near impossible as you need a 10 chivalry general with almost all anti squalor traits and ancillaries to achieve this.

Ohhhhh. So Chivalry really IS important! I haven't really been concerned about it, ever. Even in the Vanilla Kingdoms Gold. My taxes are set low, now. I guess that will be my SPy guild city. I've been using it as my Theologian Guild.

Aberdeen grew 5 turns after posting, finally. Of course I moved in a more admin-centric governor to help it out. Sounds like this is going to be a trend. I didn't think the governor would make a huge deal. His Chivalry isn't even high. Maybe it was a coincidence, but maybe I should have switched him long ago. I had to choose whether to grow Edinburgh or Aberdeen, though. Duh. No contest!
