Default The mongols have fallen asleep ?

So the mongols arrive in turn ~70, I was playing Spain and my empire was still West of Italy, so I dont give it much though. Around turn 100 I am in Jerusalem and nearing Constantinople, but I have not see or heard a peep from the Mongols. So I toggle_fow, and they are just sitting where they entered the Map doing little to nothing, hanging out in the far west of Russia. I go a few more turns to turn 110 and toggle_fow again and still the mongols are doing nothing.

Don't worry, they'll wake up soon. I think around turn 150, and boy will they wake up...

Isn't that about the time the Timurids come ?

Yes, but they take a while to wind up as well. I'll go back and say around 140 probably.

They may have appeared in top right corner of the map (just above the montai range), in this case they'll go for constantoniple by crossing the all of Russia and it takes ages. On the other hand, they don't seem to attack rebel army so they might get stuck in a valley yoyoing on their way to Antioch.

The Mongols come in waves, but when an additional wave spawns, the previously spawned stacks will regroup with the new stacks. This interrupts the progress of the Mongol advance, and causes the Mongols to wander around the map until the third wave arrives. Once the third wave arrives, the Mongols will move to the horde target (Kiev or Antioch) because there will be no more interruptions.

Also, if there are rebel armies blocking mountain passes or river passing, the Mongols sometimes are unable to reach the horde target or are delayed in doing so, because these rebel armies screw up the AI's long range path finding.

I think this is what happened to me because they just wandered Russia for a good while but turning a few settlements into rebel settlements but not actually taking them, finally they moved to Kiev and began conquering

I find it depends on how well the Turks have done against the Byzantine Empire. If they're in a strong position by say, Turn 90-100 then there is a reasonable chance they will dramatically slow down the Mongols, but I've never had them stuck in Russia.

the same thing has happened to me I'm allied to them and they're just sitting around anatolia being bosses so I'm at war with the turks cos they're fighting a two front war and I'm winning so far but the mongols aren't doing much so ,Its probably a normal thing

Sometimes the Mongols get stuck like this - the most probable reason would be that something is blocking their route - in my latest russian campaign, they were stopped dead in their tracks in the eastern steppes because a tiny rebel army had positioned itself on a bridge. Rather than walking around or stomping the living daylight out of those rebels, they just paced back and forth along the river for several decades.
It may be that a rebel army has placed itself in a narrow mountain pass or something, thus making them unsure of what to do.
It could also be that the factions which are in control of the Mongolsī target regions (Kiev or Antioch) are just so strong that they donīt want to go to war with them, opting instead to ignore their one objective and just stand still.
The whole situation should resolve itself once the Timurids arrive - otherwise your only options are to wait for them to die of old age or attack them yourself and force them into war.

I believe the Mongols are basically trying to right-click on Kiev/Antioch. So when there's a rebel army blocking it, the Mongols become unable to reach the target because the AI's pathfinder does not have the ability to command the unit to attack rebel armies blocking the way in order to travel the shortest path.

On that note, I shall provide an update.

The timurids came, they took one town, spawned a diplomat and allied with the mongols.
I had a lovely fight for Antioch against Timurids and Mongols.

I did not even know this was possible for the AI.
