Default Turned on the computer and screen went black at login screen [FIXED]

So as said in the title, windows 7 loaded and then screen went black at what was meant to be the login screen. I thought to figure out if its the video card id switch to onboard graphics so I went into north bridge settings in the BIOS and switched from PCI express to onboard. Now there's absolutely no video input at all . I somehow made this situation worse. Any advice for me to fix this and switch back to PCI express without any video input?

How does the computer sound when you first boot it in this state? Are you hearing a single beep? Strange question - I know - but please answer.

What flavor of BIOS are you dealing with? What's the make and model if you please?

Those are the strange questions to ask before the standard run-of-the-mill questions. Are you sure all video cables between the desktop and the monitor are seated correctly? As you link your build in your profile I'll assume you've checked all internal connections.

Lastly - can you remember what exact changes you made to the BIOS on your last visit? Details would help. Good luck!

It started up as usual, no sounds at all.

It's whatever BIOS the z77 extreme 4 has, I am not that good at technical stuff.

I haven't checked connections but nothing has been touched, knocked or moved since last night unless someone did something in my sleep which I doubt. Besides now that I changed it to onboard VIA bios I can't get any video at all anymore .

Last time I visited BIOS was months ago and that was just to overclock the CPU to 4 GHZ

Well I was hoping for more quality info but that's not likely here. No fault of your own.

Try resetting the CMOS battery and try to start all over. It's a last resort of sorts but it won't fry anything. It should restart your BIOS on factory default and give you a second shot at this. Be aware that it should also reverse your overclock. But that can be fixed later. Good luck!

When you boot up your PC are you seeing anything or just "blackness"? I had a similar problem about 2yrs ago where my PC would start up, the BIOS would work but it would stop short of loading the OS and I'd get a black screen. It was because my mobo was fried, and that's what it sounds like has happened to you; without being able to actually see anything and what's going on. :-(

You should also be very careful over-clocking your gear. It wears things out much faster and you can fry PC components pretty easily. Over-clocking is cool and can be fun, but you should expect computer problems when you do it. There's a reason for the acceptable manufacturer ranges CPUs and RAM come pre-clocked at: because it's safe.

It's fixed, it must have been a windows file problem because I reformatted my Solid state drive and reinstalled windows, now it's all working again, and nope it did load the Windows, then went black at login screen with only the mouse cursor showing.
