    Default Several Questions

Hi, my current laptop is an Acer Aspire 5742G, the specs are:

    4GB RAM
    500GB HDD
Nvidia GeForce GT 420M 1GB Video Card
Quad Core Intel Core i5-460M Processor

My question is can this laptop play Dishonored, Skyrim and Hitman Absolution (if the specs info has been released)?

Also, i am thinking of getting a better desktop pc next year, what desktop can play the games above on full settings, plus the following games on full settings: Total War games, Paradox games, Company of Heroes 2, Oblivion, Crysis, Mass Effect series, Dragon Age Series and the Witcher 2? The budget would probably be around £1000-£2000.

    Thanks.

Probably not. At least not very well. I've got a 5650 and it's supposed to be about 25% better, but it struggles with Skyrim on anything better than low. And even on low, I get like 30-35fps max.

Just about anything. $1100 is the sweet spot for bang for your buck. Post here when you're ready to buy and we'll help you out. Parts abd prices change too quickly.

Actually building a computer with parts is not something i am going to try, unless i have someone actively helping me. I am also quite familiar with PC terminology, but could learn more.

Why wouldnt you build it yourself? You're saving a good 100 quid on assembly.

more than that Dell HP etc roughly $300 on every desktop is assembly cost they get massive discounts my first computer ever was a Dell $1200 machine parts inside at the time only added up to $400 + $100 for the OS = $500 monitor was $100 at the time so $600 that ment $600 was used to cover warranty / shipping / assembly etc thats a raw deal.

learn to build it yourself most parts have a 2-3 year warranty any system you buy from someone pre assembled has a 1 year warranty.

also depending on your location in the world example Canada NCIX will build the system for you for a cost of just $50

You can find sites in the UK who will build a PC to your spec for a reasonable fee - it will be less than HP/Dell from PC Ripoff

several good sites in the uk. overclockers, scan, ebuyer.

All give you a week or so to do an rma if the product doesnt work and they will refund you.

    Check online for guides

    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...guide-building

Here's one for example. I use www.guru3d.com/forums for tech advice when I need it.

    Much better learning yourself.
