    Default Certain areas, certain warriors

I'm sorry, im not sure whether this was done before but hear me out. Ive been playing empire darthmod and see that certain areas can bring certain elite units that have a very strong difference in appearance from the rest of you common soldiers. I think this was awesome and if i lost the province i knew that ide have to recapture it to create the same warrior. I definitely think this would be awesome in the new Rome total war, especially with the barbarian tribes. Only certain areas could bring up or house those units.

I'm sure Rome 2 will have an AOR system. Much like EB's hopefully.

This is exactly one of the features I want! We have something like that in Rome 2, but just for the elephants. I'd like it for all kinds of units.

Agreed. This is in the TATW mod, certain region have a 'resource' so you can only get Dunedain Rangers in Fornost, Amon Sul, and Annuminas.

Anyway, maybe as Rome, conquering Germanic regions will allow access to a unit pool with Germanic troops in them.

That thing has been around since RTW, remember you could recruit spartian hoplites only in Sparta? Most of the RTW mods had it, like being able to recruit Roman polybian cohort only in Rome(RS2); EB had this turned to eleven, which is why it could be excrutiatingly difficult to keep your best men up to strength, the recruiting grounds being so far away.

Or Macedonian Pezhetairoi, or campanian cavalry or Camillan/Polybian legions. Try fighting the silver fever in the mountains of Anatolia when Italy is ten turns away

EB had a great AoR, although it was very limited due to Rome 1's engine.

it would be cool if you could recruit different warriors for different circumstances. i could get different warriors if i modernized an area more or if i built different buildings

Yeah that would be extemely interesting with culture were represented in the game. So for example you could recruit your faction units in conquered land if you built a colony.

It would be interesting to think about the preconditions for recruitment of various units.

Ecological? (A.k.a. "No recruiting elephant and camel-based units in Britain.")

Cultural? (Maybe Gauls just have a tough time learning to be horse archers (unless they incorporated Cantabrians into their confederation, maybe?), and Parthians have a tough time fighting as heavy infantry? Cretans have an unusually strong archery tradition?)

Institutional? (Marian professional legions vs. mid-Roman Republican militia organizations (which might be similar to how some relatively non-Macedonian dominated Greeks like Aetolians would be organized) vs. Parthian-style feudal institutions)

Technological? (Composite bows? Armor technologies? Naval technologies?)

It was there in the roma surrectum mod and it worked great. It could add wider scope to management and battels

I think AoR system should be more fluid then in mods like EB. It could be tied to the culture mechanic so for example you conquer Gaul as Romans and at first you can only recruit gallic units. As time passes and the region becomee more romanized so do the troops, until you can no longer recruit gallic units, only roman ones.
